Mike I told you Paul Jordaan was small!!!!!!
Saffex
Would not want to get into an arguemt with him!!!! Is their anywhere the muscles are not bulging out all over?
Come now - post similar pics of Jantjies and Taute - let us compare the three of them muscle-wise and then continue with our discussions on the three.
Taute weighs 100kg, is a big boy.
Jantjies is small but you dont need a big 10
Snapster Taute is a really good player. What some folk have missed is the skills he exhibits. He has a very nice step and chip ahead. He is a big guy, able to break tackles and he and Frans would take no captives. So I think all in all we have a lot to look forward to as there are many possibilities and I cant believe Meyer and Rassie are going to foul things up as we have seen happen so often.
The only two concerns I have right now is how good a backline coach is Loubscher and shouldn't Nieaber be our defensive coach. I am expecting everything to come on stream by 2014 with a progressive improvement as we go along and the young players come on stream.
Yeah I think we are sorted at centre and have some real depth of talent coming through. The only certainty is Frans at 12, its a case of working out who his partner is going to be. The candidates here are numerous and its down to one of them making the position their own.
My first choice is Taute, as you say - big strong lad, with pace, step and swerve - good defender and has a good boot on him as a bonus. He also always looks for work and is always in the action.
JJ Engelbrecht is my next in line. He to has the Taute attributes but for the kicking. That break of his last week, showed exactly what he is capable of - the lad is an exciting prospect.
Next in line would be Jordaan, this lad is so ellusive and could prove a real handful. Initially I was concerned with his size but as you can see he has bulked up to what must be a respectable 94kg's and showed in the Junior WC that he is a powerful lad. Has the O'Driscoll vibe about him.
Jan Serfontein would be the next bet, this kid has shown he has it all and while he has played most of his rugby at 12, moving to 13 would be an easy transition, given Frans is a dead cert at 12.
Pat Howard looks a great prospect, big lad at 101kg and has good pace, step and swerve. We need to see him playing CC this year and Super rugby next season. I really like the look of this guy.
Sadie made a big impression last year, but injury and lack of game time at the Bulls has marred his progress. At 23, he has time on his hands and like Small-Smith, needs to bulk up more. The kid is electric with ball in hand, but struggled in the physical stakes. Stats have him at 95kg, but I am not convinced about that.
Much noise has been of Jan Serfontein's Grey Bloem and SA Schools centre partner Dries Swanepoel who has also been contracted to the Bulls. By all accounts he is as good as Jan and missed out on Baby Bok selection through a knee injury sustained in Nov. He has only just started playing again. Video footage of this guy is pretty impressive, so time will tell on him. He and Jan should be the Baby Bok centre pair next year.
Frans Venter at the Bulls and last years Baby Bok star at 12, is another great prospect. If he gets game time and makes enough of an impression, he too could move to 13 if need be.
I have been very impressed with Tim Whitehead this year, but he does look better placed to stick with 12, he is more of a creator than finisher.
There is JP du Plessis who has not had much of an opportunity with the Stormers, but video footage of this guy shows some real clout in his formative years
Small-Smith looks a good prospect as well, but I'd say he needs to bulk up somewhat before he can be taken seriously at a higher level. He has the frame to do this and at 91kg, is not far off if he adds some muscle. He needs to follow Jordaan's example.
Its good to see Stefan Watermeyer has returned to SA after a stint in Wales, I always rated this guy and he got a raw deal at the Bulls. Played 12, but looks better suited to 13. He is only 23 or 24 and will be a good addition to the Griquas side. He is a good centre.
There is always de Jongh and Ebersohn, but they just do not fit the physical bill, which is a pity as they are both gifted players in their own right
I make that 14 candidates for 13......we should be ok, moving forward - one of these guys will be the answer
Snapster Frans Steyn is obviously capable of doing the very physical side. I am hoping that his speed is not down and he can still jnk with the best. Has he got too big? Have not really seen him doing the type of thing he first did when he burst onto the scene.
Won't pretend to be an expert on juniour rugby but from what I saw Jan Serfontein (97kg) looks like the best center in the making. Jordaan's speed also is not to be sneezed at. Never saw much of Howard. HopeJordaan is fit for the playoffs. These guys will all be 100 kg centers. Taute and Lambie may actually be our two fullbacks with Lambie providing cover for Gooosen. Its all a big puzzle that needs real rugby acumen to sort out. One only hopes the franchise coaches fall in line with Bok requirements.
Wonder why ou Alistari never gives Du Plessis and Howard a run off the bench occassionally. Possibly he feels its a risk and the Stormers are never far ahead regardless of who they play.
Beeno, Coetzee is not up to speed that is his problem. He ignores talented youngsters like Quinn Roux, Howard and du Plessis , but instead chooses to invest in an ordinary lock like de Kock Steenkamp or play Habana at 13 - its madness. The guy shows no faith in his youngsters - if they had been Kiwi's or Ozzies, they would have had plenty of game time by now
Hasbeen you and the Sapp make me laugh......Taute beats defenders. You sound like it happens all the time. Well Taute played 8 games at centre starting with the Stormers. He beat a whopping 12 defenders.....while missing 9 himself for a net of 3. And one can almost guarantee with his blundering forward every time, he had many more attempts than his opponent.
A blunt weapon that wont bother any international centre.
By contrast in 3 games since Taute was injured Mapoe has beaten 9 tackles and missed none.....for a net positive of 9 (admittedly playing one game on the wing).
You live in ignorance.....but I will try to provide some light.
What crap, Taute after 15 rounds was the 4th highest in terms of line breaks and 7th on the list for metres gained. Not bad for a player playing in the weakest side in the comp. He does not feature in the list of missed tackles. The kid is the stand out 13 in SA by some distance
Thanks Dr Moz but I feel I am in a dark room after your comments! Hahhahahahahaha
Are you still so gloomy about our future prospects?
And I suppose Mapoe whose numbers are vastly superior is suddenly playing in a great team. The stats don't lie......your man Taute is scarcely in positive territory. Wise up Fattie.
Hasbeen I doubt we will win 50% of our games this year....the front row aside, we have stepped back significantly in the pack. These youngsters like Coetzee and Etzebeth aren't hard enough yet.
Any news about the Sharks team for the weekend???
No stats dont lie dimwit, he is 4th on the list for line breaks and 7th on the list for metres gained and way down the list for missed tackles - that tells me he is one of our best players you fool. Your warped way of putting it sums you up. He has missed all of 9 tackles all Super 15, while making 12 line breaks which is a great strike rate for a centre in such a crap side.
Mapoe had one good game and is a good player - your point being?
Taute has made more breaks and gained more metres than any other centre in SA and by some distance. And he has missed very few tackles. All this in the worst side in the comp. How stupid are you that you cant pick up on these facts?
The simple truth is he is beaten as often as he beats tackles. Metres gained can often be piled up in a few runs....defenders beaten is a much more reliable stat. As for being a dimwit, really? The facts say otherwise. But in your case.....what can you fall back on but a second class law degree and a job hunting down infidelities? Hardly cerebral stuff.
Well go check every player for line breaks, metres gained and tackles made and missed. AB stalwart Conrad Smith is near the top of the list with tackles missed, he has way over 30. Alberts has missed 31 tackles, Hougaard 34..................are these average players?
Fact is the stats tell us that Taute is one of the top players in the whole comp, given he makes more of an impression with ball in hand than most and is down the list when it comes to tackles missed.
As I keep saying, what makes his stats that more remarkable is the fact that he is playing for the worst side. Imagine what he would do in the company of the Sharks, Bulls or Stormers.
Moz as per usual your take on players is way off. Jean for instance has far less line breaks and metres gained and is no better in the missed tackles stats - that makes him so much poorer than Taute, same can be said of de Jongh.
What is a second class law degree and hunting down infidelities beats the crap out of running a vegamite factory
Well Dave the difference is per usual I am telling the truth.....but you are lying through your teeth....I never ran a factory in my life. How do you lie to a person who knows you are lying.....that's the part I find odd. But in any case I think you'd be happier just calling me "sir" like the last time we met.
I think Saffex just shared his screensaver with us. Alternates with images of Steph du Toit
Yep one wonders how many of these hunk pictures he has, and why he has them.
Paul Jordaan is my favourite selection as a future Springbok - I really have a very high opinion of him. Thank you for the pic SAFFEX - he is now my desktop background pic. I am waiting for a similar pic of Du Toit and then alternate them on my desktop - or put it on my new laptop.
Think I should change my avatar to hin too - but in view of all the junk I write on this site that may be wrong to do so. Especially taking into account on what I write - I think me on a toilet seat is most apprpriate.:)
I was noy lying Moz, I was joking given the fact that you chose to throw insults my way regarding my career. I do recall vegamite though and Kellogs rings a bell.
Not sure what this issue is with pics of rugby players, its evidence of the size of these lads - its that simple, but hey feel free to throw your spin on things.
With De Jongh and Fat Fransie there was no win for you. LOSER big time you are and always will be,
Listen BSter Mozart
Why the hell don't you just FO with your non=rugby attacks on other members - piss brain!!!!!!
... so much for ignoring Moffie, hey Mike.
