The news gets better de Kock has been added to the squad to cover for Alviro Petersen who has a viral infection.......I hope its not serious, just bad enough to keep him from playing!!

Thanks Sas - funny as hey....

I think 2nd test will be a lot more of a mitch (...I mean match) - Saffas now know what to expect and would also think they have told the groundsman to keep the pitch slow as possible.... kinda ironic actually as I don't think they would have done that in a while.

Interesting to see who wins the toss and does what...? No doubt Graeme Smith will HAVE to bat if they win - but I think he's still scared of mitchy baby....

Perhaps the saffas want to give Mitch De Kock... srry bad taste  indeed...

back on - no worries - guess that's the leveller... if anything good to pull the aussies head in...

Third test pitch... can you tell me about it? How does it usually play? Green / bouncy ?

The Newlands pitch is normally quicker than the PE one - however I am not sure what the one will be like for the coming test.

However, in the previous test played the Ausssies got 283 runs in their first innings  - followed by the Proteas were all out for 96.   Then the Aussies second innings produce 47 runs all out and the Proteas made up the deficiency and win the test by 8 wickets.    There was nothing wring with the pitch - just poor batting.   However, I think the Aussies would worry about the issue - especially after their batting collapse yesterday.

Fox Sport player ratings for the second test:

First we have "the best bowling attack in the world"
Mitchell Johnson — 4

Some handy first innings runs but struggled with the ball in the conditions.

Peter Siddle — 4

Whole-hearted as ever but failed to make an impact.

Ryan Harris — 3

Some handy runs but struggling with the ball in this series.

Nathan Lyon — 7

A strong performance by the off-spinner with no support from his pace attack.

An average of 4.5/10

....and then we have the "not the best bowling attack in the world":

Dale Steyn — 7

After a quiet first innings his second innings reverse swing was exceptional.

Vernon Philander — 7

Some excellent swing and seam bowling.

Morne Morkel — 7

The most physically dangerous bowler in the series. (this sounds a lot like the way the Aussies normally like to describe Johnson.)

Wayne Parnell — 5

Two important early wickets before breaking down.

An average of 6.5/10
