Mitchcell to take over as Bulls coach?

The following from News24:-
Reports suggest that the Blue Bulls are set to name New Zealander John Mitchell as the new Director of Rugby at the franchise.

SA Rugbymag reports that Mitchell, currently in charge of the US Eagles, will join the franchise at the start of July although he will only begin his tenure in the hot seat during this year's Currie Cup.

The Bulls, currently coached by Nollis Marais, are experiencing one of their worst Super Rugby seasons to date and languish in sixth place in the African Group (and second in the African Conference 1) with only the Cheetahs and Sunwolves below them.

To date, Marais' side has only managed three wins in eleven matches played.

On Saturday, the Bulls face the Hurricanes, a match that not many will give them much of a chance of winning.

I hope the above is true.   This would be good news for the Bulls and one can expect a turnaround in their performances next year.   At least there would be a fit team - not the lot of heavy breathers 20 minutes into games.   And they will have a real captain without Strauss around to destroy leadership. 

Now for the Stormers getting Plumtree to coach them!!!!!!!!!!  

 

 As much as we give the kiwis all on this site, they know how much respect we have for them. 
I for one fully support the idea of some kiwi coaches in SA.

 Mike to you know if Cois we be staying at the Lions? If him JP remain behind then I think the Lions won't dip after Akkers leaves. 
The Sharks, are starting to show some positive signs under Dunno Preez, the Lions will remain stronger for a good few years, the Bulls will have Mitchell...
Not such a gloomy picture then for next year?
What this about Plumbtree at The Stormers?  

 Would be a major coup, to have Pollard, Serfontein, etc playing good rugger is going to be invaluable.

Great news, although it is not certain if the Bulls will be in SuperRugby next year. If the Kings play- one of the other teams will have to drop out of SuperRugby

New Zealand has a richness of modern day coaches. Mitchell might not be the best you have- but he is better than most. 
When Mitchell went to the Western Force he turned them into knockout round contenders. He transformed a Lions team into playing a mobile attacking unit  

 He's allegedly a bit hardcon the players...always a good thing in SA, we don't mind a stern hand so much. Pity Wakefield, De Klek and Hoskins blocked his appointment at WP.

Mitchell has probably already drawn up a list of donkeys that he wants to dispose of. 
When he took over the Lions they were cash strapped. With a Bull's budget, he could develop a really good team. 

It took the Lions long to learn the game plan and the skills to implement, but if he can get the players he wants- maybe things will be much faster. 
I wonder if he has a clause in his contract to take over the Springbok coach role.

Traditionalist hasn't been here in quite a while man ;)

 Plum I would support Mitchell as he is a decent coach and should do the bulle a lot of good.  However as always the oaks need to get some much needed perspective. The only reason we need a nz coach is because our top coaches, proven men like Mallet, White, Rassie and Venter don't coach in SA.So let's not get carried away about how great nz coaches are oaks. Perspective is everything oaks!
