Super 15 is not a series where you can only count on defence - you have to score tries tp ensure success. In 2012 the Storners scored the lowest number of tries scored by any franchise and in 2013 it was the third lowest,
They were top of the log after the round robin stage in 2012 purely because of their sound defence - last year their defence went to pieces if the info on for instance De Jongh is borne in mind.
However - made a very controversial remark as well - he said he is not sure that the Stormers will be able to change this around with the present coaches and players.
At least we have now the views of an expert on what is really wrong here, The problem was not with De Villiers, Habana, Aplon and Van den Heever - it was with the other three backline players. The situation is that those four players shows attacking capacity - the rest shows zilch in the relevant regard.
The Stormers had to struggle with Jantjies at flyhalf and they hope to do better this year with Catrakillis and Grant. They have lost Habana and Van den Heever - and that is already a serious problem for them. The killer in attacking backline play is unfortunately De Jongh - he brings zero in attacking play to the team - has no ability to create space for other players and do not have enough penetration to be of any effect,
