Cheeky: Money can't buy Kings   Exsport 24       Cheeky Watson (Gallo Images)

Cape Town - EP Kings president Cheeky Watson has poured cold water on rumours the Eastern Cape team has come to an agreement with the South African Rugby Union (SARU) not to play Super Rugby next year.

According to Die Burger, rumours are the Southern Kings will take a back seat for the Lions for one more year - if SARU adheres to some of their requests.

Some of the requests apparently include that the Kings will "receive a huge sum of money from SARU" to do so. They are apparently also seeking automatic qualification into next year's Currie Cup Premier Division as well as a guaranteed Test match against either New Zealand or Australia for the next four years.

However, Watson strongly denied the rumours.

"The rumours are false. There is definitely no such agreement with SARU.

"I think they are rumours that were started by people who want to sink the Kings.

"We should have played Super Rugby in 2011 already, but stood back with the best interests of South African rugby in mind. A decision has been made that we will play Super Rugby in 2013 and that is what we're striving for," said Watson

One wonders what has changed to now make it in the interests of SA rugby that the queens get a spot in the upercomp? Earn your right you gutless wonders!

Cheeky Watson is a complete idiot.   If the Queens is to play CC - they must go through normal qualification and they won't.    The era of handouts should stop - it is destroying SA in the process.

I think playing the Queens in the Super 15 would be a worst disaster than the Lions is at present.   The type of players Cheeky would try and get would be the rejects from other franchises and the team that cannot even compete on CC level.     With Luke Watson as capain - there is only one destimation for that team - and that would be the bottom of the log without any points.     By the way will Cheeky buy any Afriikaans speaking players - not on youir life -especailly after the fiasco Luke made at the Stormers.

to much politics here. Not just the iffirmative action stuff- but now it is 2 white people who appointed themselves the messiahs. Puke has insulted all the afrikaaners- and lets be honest even the sharks need some "boers", so not sure how they are going to built a team with Puke as the captain.

The Watson messiah of the queens. I wonder how much they really care about the issue of transformation or just more about promoting themselfs.

This cheeky Watson even lukes like the Puke. I can see the resemblance. A praat.

As for them perhaps not playing next year- it appears SARFU may aknowledge that this team could be beaten by most of the Super xv cheerleading teams if the game gets physical. This compensation package could just be a way to put them into the curry cup- with massive funds to buy players- more money than the other regions in the attempt to build a team.

Oh wouldn't you know it, the Watsons are involved in a controversy!! These people are poison!!! If you look at the bottom of a pond, under the mud, rotting leaves and frog shit, you'll find lawyers, and nestled neatly underneath them at the lowest slimy level, the Watsons. They can take their politician buddies and pretty much voetsek back to the disease infested hole they crawled out of.

They are still looking for a sponsor for their shirts- but no company wants their corporate image puked on.

The Goverment will carry this cost of sponsership as well

Nice description - but is Cheeky not a lawyer?  I do believe he is -   so you need a further lower layer to deal with him specifically.   Any suggestions??????
