Montpellier culls South Africans

...ahead of Vern Cotter's tenure as new coach, Montpelliers is having a good old fashion clean out....on their bike is Pierre Spies, rumoured to be making way for French international Louis Picamoles..
...other South Africans leaving include Demetri Catrakilis (Harlequins), Duhan van der Merwe (Edinburgh) and Willie du Plessis (Bayonne), as well as Australian Nic White (Exeter Chiefs).
 .... the club announced that it will not make use of the services of  Marvin O'Connor, Antoine Battut, Akapusi Qera, Joffrey Michel and Robins Tchale-Watchou either some of whom were regular starters under Jake White.

 ...that still leaves  SA prop Arno van Wyk, locks Paul Williamse and Nico Janse van Rensberg, flanker Wiaan Liebenberg, halfback Cameron Wright and centre Francois Steyn...but obviously they could'nt get rid of all the Saffes in one hit..

It so unds like a quota happening at Montpellier. 

...very interested to see who else the new Kiwi coach signs next...Aaron Cruden and Louis Picamoles a great start... but surely Francois Steyn's days are numbered there......they desperately need some decent centres...and a new fitness coach for all those tired South Africans treating the club like it's a retirement village ...

I for one do not think Fat Fransie would last at Montpellier.   He is not a center and definitely not a flyhalf either - that was publicly stated by Plumtree years ago,
The only player to take a careful  look at is Van der Merwe.   He was on a "junior contract" with Montpellier and rarely played for them - when he did he scored tries when Fat Fransie was absent,   Otherwise even he would not succeed.
