Moodie!
Not a lot going on here. Mostly fluff. Nice obstruction by Damian for the first try. There was a forward pass by Willie for one run. The best of it was basic. The takeaway from this is that we need soft defending from the opposition and lots of uncontested high balls with little to no support for the lone defender standing flat footed. Lots of bad decisions from opponents here, such as running from deep in obvious exit kicking situations. Also sloppy and thoughtless passing when the Boks were marked up on the spaces between attackers and when an inside cut would get behind the line . The Boks attacking statistics reflect that the team accumulates metres through one off running. Continuity through distribution playing through the line is rare, especially where line integrity exists and when the Boks are challenged physically with a press. The shuffle ball wide and hope for space. As we saw in the RC, and throughout the last two seasons, when pressured and when teams cover the edge, we struggle. This video leaves me feeling a lot let confident not only in Moodie, but the entire blueprint for how we attack.
Roos is still missing.,
Yeah these TAS videos tend to make a big yahoo about not much at all, but Moodie is an impressive talent.
Moddie is only 20.
The intercepts he is getting are reminiscent of Jean Devilliers (JDV).
Jean also started on the wing, before moving to outside center briefly and then to inside center.
Moddie played at outside centre before moving to the Bulls.
His defence looks good, probably a bit late in the day now at the world cup - but it would be interesting to see how he goes at 13.
Deus sees only a half empty glass and of course that the Boks have a glass jaw and a soft underbelly.
Our top pack is anything but soft Dunce I mean Deus. Dunce Deus, has a ring about it.
Well, the boks will definitely need a 13 in the next 2 years.
Moodie is only 20, give him another 3 years and hopefully time and space, barring serious injuries and he can only get better.
He has the hard edge to compete.
I would prefer if he plays at 13 for the bulls first and cement the position down before being thrown into the deepend.
Jordy played at 12 for the hurricanes for at least one season and then got a few cracks for the abs and then had another full season under his belt. Add that to his number if first class games as well as his all black caps and he is now in the perfect position to nail the 12 jumper down for the rest of his career.
Moodie has time, we just need to be smart
Time is one thing; aptitude is another. He is not a useless player, but he is no superstar yet. As seen in the video, he is being grossly overhyped. I have warmed to Willemse a bit, but he is still far from being a superstar. He did some good things against New Zealand, despite the criticism leveled at him. Perhaps better coaching would smooth out the rough edges to their game. However, what's stopping them from having the initiative and honest self assessment to work on their shortcomings themselves?
Useless? Useless is not being able to defend your position with anything other than profanity and insults.
Ja, ouDawie, remember what Rooinek said
or there's 4 7 8 ............ breathe in for 4 seconds, hold in for 7
& expel for 8 .
You aren't a supporter of the Boks, you are a supporter of Erasputin. Big difference. You can't even maintain a consistent argument. You hated past Bok sides to the point where you said their wins, playing well, we're moral losses. Why? Because you expect more from the Boks and wouldn't accept the way they play. You are such a neo-lib.
