One need not wonder why the Springbok team no 19 is so easily shaded by a youngster, who, whilst available, reduces Steyn to warm the bench for Stade Francais.   Plisson is a youngster with a rugby brain and he has an ability which the robotic Morne will never have - he is a real pivot for the backline.

That we have to have a Springbok flyhalf who is not even good enough to be first choice flyhalf for a French Club side baffles me.   Is our flyhalf resources so poor that Meyer cannot  make a better selection?

That is where I say that Morne only has one asset and that is his goal kicking - but is that all we need from out flyhalf?   I think not - we have better flyhalfs than robotic Morne in SA and it is time for Meyer to wake up to that fact.

Will he wake up?   I think not - his record indicates otherwise.   He selects foreign based club players left right and center without regard to actual performances and then we are told how well they performed for the Springboks - while statistics and actual performances indicate otherwise.

I really am looking forward to Super 15 to show us the way we should go and who should in fact replace our present robot at 10.

If Plisson is "average at best"  - it underscores the fact that Morne is way below par as a pivot.

Nemesis? How so? I assure you one thing Plisson will achieve very little at test level, nothing like that of Morne who has shattered so many records at Super and test level for both country and the world. I have reviewed so many of those Morne tests and the more I watch him, and the pretenders, the more I admire him. His distribution, his calm and knack for understanding the situation around him are things that no other ten, besides Butch - who is rather past his best anyway, in South Africa possesses. Do you want to speak of a robot? Then look no further than Goosen; he who happily threw a hospital pass to Taute with three defenders in his face, defenders who were allowed to drift easily because he would fix zero defenders. You tell him to pass it, he does exactly that. Morne on the other hand would take the contact, even bailing out of a set-move, because he understood that the player(s) around him were in an inferior situation. Then of defence? Yes, he knows whe to go low, he understands how to prevent the offload and present the tackled player to our ravenous loose forwards for a shot at the turnover. Is an elusive stepper? No, it's not his way, but he can also be very useful ball in hand as we've already seen. But overall it's his balance. No wonder then that 2013 was such a successful season ball-in-hand once the Boks started dominating the breakdown, he effortlessly fulfilled his duties with aplomb; something the naysayers refused to accept was even possible, and a fat anomaly to their little theory which, just like the evolutionists and so many historians, they simply ignore it - a one last stand to protect their beloved preconceived ideas, which is, like an onion, wrapped in layer upon layer of tender emotion. Personally, I'm done talking of Morne, there is nothing left to prove. Unless someone bursts onto the scene ala Butch James, there is nobody to dispossess the incumbent. To continue further will simply create the illusion that there is room for debate; there isn't.

I posted the above to get your response.   I really enjoyed what you wrote - most of which is exactly the exact opposite from what Morne really is.    You apparently fail to realize that the function of flyhalfs is not only to kick at goal - there are many other  functions they have to perform - all of which Morne failed in repeatedly.

By the way there is one sentence where you were using words not applicable to Morne at all - you said " knack for understanding the situation around him"   The words reflecting the real  situation should be  "" lack of understanding the situation around him".

Before I drop the bomb-shell, I will gi ve you one last opportunity to relent; do you accept that Goosen is the inferior defender and was in fact rather dire to the Bok cause in 2012?

You are digging yourself deeper and deeper into this, you fool. You were the one who decided that Plisson was an "average at best" player some months ago and  now suddenly he has developed into "..... a youngster with a rugby brain.............". Remarkable turnaround by the youngster in less than 6 months, don't you think?

It's merely moving the pillars around to ensure the stability of the delusion. Not a good foundation for fact I'd say.

Morne and defence are two words not belonging in the same sentence,

Morne has a proven missed tackle ratio of 19,4% in the recent RC,   Morne always try to  avoid contact as much as possible as can be seen from the incident involving Davies in the recent Welsh test.

His major defensive lapses in the Ellis Park test last year was typical of the standard Morne fare.

Is Morne an acceptable defender?   The answer is NO HE IS NOT.   Because of proven facts I would say that both Goosen and Lambie are better defenders than Morne.  Goosen is nowhere near as poor a defender as Morne is.

You will rue those words Michael, I just wanted to draw it out of you before before I post my exposé in a few days time. Morné more than Lambie or Goosen will chase every last chance to make a tackle. That is fact, end of discussion. He is far more intelligent in how he handles contact as a defender, never avoiding a tackle. On attack , he will play much closer to defenders when the Boks chose to attack close in. Goosen and Lambie never fix their man. But all this shall be shown and you will be in severe damage limitation, for you committed to this folly and I can hold you to it!

Morne is reportedly an absolute gentleman and what I write on this site does not reflect on that - it reflects on his capacity as a player as I see it.  There is one thing I regret all the time whenever I see him in the Springbok team - and that i s the fact that we do not have a good enough flyhalf playing for the Springboks.  .

There really is no factual proof that you can provide that Morne is a good defender - it is in the statistical record that he is not good enough.  No amount of flowery language usage will prove otherwise.

Plisson is a far better rugby player than Morne......he had a solid enough debut.....we are still to see him shine as he has done for his club......watch his pass.......puts players into space
