 His kicking for poles has fallen apart, but his attacking games has never been better. Even his defence in position and tackling has been good-

Not sure ? Drop him for Lambie, and await Goosen, or continue playing him as his attacking game  has improved imensley- and just wait for his kicking game to return. His kicking for the Bools has also been poor this year- by normal standards.

Just a question on Steyns situation do you think the Heyneke has asked him to be more expansive and that he upping his game accrdingly?? Afterall we can see that Morne is certainly showing another side to his game and maybe this is what the future is holding for Bok rugby?

I dont have any issues with his kicking, he is number one in the world and even the best have an off game or three........he will be back!!!

Go the Bokkies

 Agreed. Although his kicking has taken a dip, I think it'll come good soon enough. And he certainly has shown what he is capable of in the past - both with the Bulls (Bools Sharkbok wtf??) and the Bokke. It's apity about Goosen - he has huge potential and I would certainly like to see how he takes to the international game.

@nard,

The international game is such a different beast to Super rugby, whether many on hhere like it or not we peobaby need Morne's experience and stability coming into the 4N's.......I for one would like to see Goosen injected at some stage. I am al;so not fully convinced in anyway that Houugardd is the answer at scrum halve but once we face the 4N giants then I am sure we will see where we really sit on the rugby mountain....at the moment the NH teams have shown enough to at least state that the NH tours at the end of the year for the SH teams will be a challenge.........

I think there is a problem in this case.   Goalkicking is all in the mind - not really physical.    Yesterday his goal kicking was 5 out of nine.   He missed  two penalty kicks and two conversions.   That represents a loss of 10 points.   On th other side - he cost us 7 points with th starting kick off after the POMS scored a try - by kicking the ball out of play.   That represents a turnover of 17 points in favour of the POMS.   Not very good on any account.

Last week was not as bad as yesterday - but two flops in two weeks showed something bad in his top storey.   It reminds me of the first game I saw him plying in Argentina as a Junior.   In the game against Argentina he missed every conversion kick and it put us in a touch and go situation when it came to the outcome of the competition.

I agree that his passing game and his defence have improved - but is that good enough on international level?   I think the pressure of competition by Goosen and others is getting to him and that could perhaps be the problem in the case of his goalkicking and other aspects relating to his kicking game.

The series was won by the Springboks - maybe they would give Jantjies a chance to play next Saturday to see what he can produce on international level.   This is likely to happen bearing in mind what Meyer said after the game - when he mentioned that some  players are showing signs of tiredness and indicated that he are planning some changes for next week.    Have doubts about Jantjies too - but he could use the opportunity to show us that he is better than average.    The other change could be to go for a change in favour of Basson.    They could give Habana a rest - he was top class in the competition thus far.

The ultimate answer would be to play Goosen as flyhalf.     Hope he recovers soon.

Attacking game has improved, what match were you watching???? The guy was bloody useless - how many times did he try it on his own instead of spreading it and completely botching up the attack. He was useless. Drop him now
