at scrum time in the last test. Your take is clear evidence of our anti the player and nothing to do with the reality of the situation.

I am talking about his second scrum that has both frontrows going down at exactly the same time on a number of occasions so how on earth you apportion the blame on Malherbe is both laughable and insulting.

Firstly if Malherbe had been the guilty party, the ref would have blown him up for it. Its obvious for all to see that it was impossible to make the call on who was responsible for the frontrows going down as it was a collective issue.

The ref does cock up by penalising the Boks despite the Argies loosehead boring in.

Moz your anti the youngsters shines bright

I cant recall one scrum where malhebe went backwards - in fact me moved forward a bit. That is significant. Ditto beast. Our scrum troubles ended when these two and Strauss came on.Note also Lood was still palying. Itwas Etzebeth who was subbed.Yes the general consensus is the ref made a mistake
The lens of the mozcroscope is faulty methinks.

 Dave
I can recall a similar statement by Mozart in respect of the Wales test last year in November - where the Lions prop Jenkins was penalized twice for taking the scrrum down and it still was not working.  The third penalty was against Malherbe - because the ref thought that after penalizing Jenkins twice and things did not imprve he  penalized Malherbe - even thoufh the culrpri was in fact Jenkins.
Mozart wrote a song and dance about Malherbe receiving penalties in that fame - - the word penalties was a lie since it involve more than one penalty.   Malherbe was replaced and Coenie came on - the scrum went down again and he carded both Coenie and Jenkins.  In Mozart twisted reckoning Malherbe was to blame for Coenie's card.
This time around eh wrote a whole book how the Springbok props  (Steenkamp and Jannie) "dominated" the Welsh props in the first June test - even though the best that can be said of the scrums in that test is that they were firm in the amtch - wit the  Springbok scrums going slightly backward n most cases.
The scrums then went haywitrre in both Argentine tests - involving Beast and Jannie in the first test and Steenkamp and Jannie in the second test.  Instead of recognsing the problem - he tred to find reasons for exonerating Steenkamp and Jannie and t\to find fault with Malherbe - that being the lightning conducter in his case used to take the attention away from the real problem.   That is what one cane expect regularly from the three resident morons.
They have their facourites who can do no wrong - and they hace the audacity to lie and manipulate myths to try and obscure issues.

Moz and scrums just don't go together......I don't think he knows anything about the finer art.......but more to the point......if the prop happens to be young and challenging his favourite or one he does not rate then it will always be that props fault if the say both frontrows go down simultaneously.

I have read his shit about CJ years ago, Mujati, Coenie, Jannie, Marcel v/d Merwe, Kitshoff.......well lets just say every SA prop that plays the game.

But the real coupe is that he would select useless Cilliers as his tighthead, the guy v/d Merwe of the Lions slaughtered on the weekend.

His other pick was wee BJ Botha back in the day......another average prop.

He finds favour in fat Steenkamp and God forbid that he be proved wrong that the older players are past it and should not be in the squad at all.

Steenkamp let Moz down in a big way last Sat and he is smarting big time. Moz needs to wake up to the fact that all these old boys are now liabilities and its time to move on.

Sadly clueless Meyer will only wake up to this very fact when its too late and the Boks exit the WC at an early stage, having had the writing on the wall post this RC

Well let's go back to Wales in Cardiff and include that test with Saturday and the home Bargie game. Five Malherbe scrums, three penalties, three different refs. Are they all wrong.
Nope Malherbe sets partially on the angle. When he gets pressure, which is always from the outside as a tighthead, he gets pushed inwards. At that point a strong prop can hold his position. Malherbe cracks. He literally loses  his feet and collapses inwards. Given that visual evidence every ref will call the penalty.
So what happened in the other two scrums....once he was wheeled backwards, opening up the field for the Bargies. The other time he was flat on his face, but Walsh let it go. Not once did he remain vertical where he started.
So are the Bargies just falling as well? Well the last scrum Jannie came back and there were no belly flops into the middle of the scrum...he simply stood where he started and avoided the penalty.
Malherbe can't scrum period.

 Mozart
Stop your lies.   Malherbe was penalized ONCE against the Welsh and once on Saturday.   In the first case Jenkins was panalized twice and the scrums went down - so the ref clearly said he penalized Malherbe because the scrum went down again after pnalizing Jenkins twice.   The reason was not clear - while he penalized Jenkins twice - he thought that the issue will eb corrected by tyurning the penalties around - not because Malgherbe was clearly at fault.   Fact is that the enxt scrum - after Malherbe was replaced went down again - that probably confoimed that jenkins was at fault all the time.
On Saturday all commentators said that the Pumas prop was scrumming inward.   I am not surprised that after th rubbuish performance by Jannie - the ref penalized the sA prop and not th Pumas one.
If anyone listen to your lies - they will end up being as deluded as you are.   Dave is right - you know othing about scrumming - as you know nothing about rugby as a whole.  The only thing you know is about what happened years agio and you remain stuck on that as if your life depends on it.
Mozart never speaks the truth about players he dislikes - perid.

Malherbe sets as straight as can be, no angle involved at all.

The Welsh test had stuff all to do with Malherbe alone and everything to do with both sets of props hence the yellow to each side......what the hell does that have to do with Malherbe alone......what utter rubbish targeting him alone.

Against the Argies he never got wheeled at all and while he was flat on his face, so were the other 3 props so how on earth do you come to the conclusion that it was Malherbe's fault, what utter rubbish again.

You are speaking complete shit about Malherbe's scrumming and what makes it even more stupid is your lone voice.

The real issue was how pathetic Steenkamp was and not how much Malherbe and Beast improved things when they came on - a fact acknowledged by all

This has everything to do with your prejudices and nothing to do with facts

It's a moot argument. This utterly useless tighthead is gone for the year, and he wont be back. Like your other big picks Moojati,Greyling and your big tighthead pick Werner Kruger....he will just quietly disappear.

Le Roux believes the issues lie elsewhere.

'It's a technical problem with the Boks at the moment, not a problem with our strength or ability.'

'Bismarck is struggling with his technique at the moment. When he hooks the ball he's getting too high, allowing the opposition to get under our front row.'

With Australia and New Zealand still to come in the Rugby Championship, the Boks will have to rebuild their confidence after the humiliation suffered in Salta if they're to keep their title hopes alive, starting with the Wallabies in Perth.

'We should comfortably be able to contain the Aussies,' says Kempson. 'If we don't, then alarm bells should start ringing. We'll learn from the experience we've had against Argentina and I'm pretty sure Pieter de Villiers will adapt things accordingly.'

Le Roux is far more obstinate in his assessment.

'We've got this fatalistic mentality in South Africa. If we don't have the best tighthead then bad luck. We must then pick a strong locking combination to compensate for that, and they make sure we don't go backwards.

'I've got a feeling the Boks will be much better in the scrum during the rest of the Rugby Championship.'

There at last you have some sense....it's a technical issue....the opposition scrum is getting under our front row. Le Roux thinks Bismarck is too high...I pointed out our locks are setting too high. These two issues are probably inter related.
And yes, we must choose a strong locking combination not an overrated jelly like Lood. Get Some strong experienced locks who set low and we will solve half of our problems.

Lood is the real deal better than bakkies and matfield aged 21. There is nothing pap about him he was easily one of the best 3 locks in this s15 an awesome prospect along with etzebeth, PSDT, willemse and jacques du plessis. ....Given this youthful depth why the f are we even looking at bakkies and matfield. ....beyond stupidity and smacks of conservatism

You may have conceded your mistake on Kruger, but you are making exactly the same mistakes with Malherbe. You did the same thing with Flexing Faan Rautenbach....find excuses. I'm telling you this guy can't scrum, your reaction is what makes. Werner Kruger relevant.

Hahaha....if he isn't our first choice in a nation suffering from a tighthead drought, is it at all surprising the Bargies had him for breakfast. We need to stop deluding ourselves with perfectly ordinary players like Kitshoff, Marcel van der Merwe joke, or Malherbe...and look for some real young props. We have one in Thomas du Toit....let's not pretend we have found another until it's real.

Well given the Argies did not come close to having him for breakfast, that is something they did with Jannie.....your take falls flat on its face.

Marcel v/d Merwe is a rock, yet to be challenged and the same can be said of Kitshoff.

We have more great young depth at prop than any other country.......no country has anything like Kitshoff, Malherbe, Ollie Kebble, Schalk v/d Merwe, Coenie, Maks v/Dyk, Nkanyane, Cayleb Oosthuizen, Mellett, Frik Kirsten, Marcel v/d Merwe  and Thomas du Toit......we have young props to burn.......the majority of these guys are test standard.

Im sorry saffex but argentina and itally have more quality at prop than south africa has in all its generations combined. for fark sake argie at one point had their 7th choice loosehead and destroyed an all black scrum. itally have also fielded no name props and destroyed sanzar scrums. we could never do that!

Props to burn, I agree,  those young props will mostly be burned Dave....what you say Maks niks. Van der Merwe a rock....a pebble more likely. This was 365s inarticulate take on his scrumming flop:

"18 Marcel van der Merwe: (on for Oosthuizen, 50 min)

Enjoyed getting a few runs under his belt but did not sure up the scrum very much.6/10

Well if you are wondering why the OOm is biased, there's you answer. Mike is the equivalent of an interested party in the business world. I don't know Malherbe or his dad, I'm sure they are nice people. But this is about scrumming...and I can't think of one CC or S15 game where Malherbe did any damaging scrumming. More concerning is his inability to maintain his feet against international opposition. His collapse and penalty two weeks ago gave Argentina a real chance to win the match. His collapse and penalty in Salta threatened to squash our attempted come back.

In any case, the lad looks a bot obese to me. Oh, and BTW, Lood is "ou Maaikie's" lock. And what is more, I agree that Lood has a "well-rounded face" as well. Make one wonder how much of his 125kg is nothing but baby-fat.

Not coming to anyone's aid.
I am just saying that having a chubby face doesn't make you fat....it just means you have a chubby face !

And your guys need someone like we have to get them conditioned, that's all. The younger guys take some time. Diet, fitness, strength and conditioning...and they all fill out at different rates.
It is a fact of life !
Joe Launchbury is a case in point. He is still developing as a player and strength wise.
Look at Billy Vunipola. His diet was atrocious. And he is a very big, heavy built boy. Still growing by all accounts !
It takes a great deal of management to get it right for some players.

Cut them some slack
