Willie 6....provided the spark to change the game after a poor first half.
Combrink 8..... A fine try and looked at home
Mapoe 5... Out of his depth
Allende 6.....poor first half, poor defence.....showed his running potential at the death.
JP 5....in his dotage
Mvovo 2.... Should never play test rugby
Jantjies 5....awkward passes, poor goal kicking....not part of the cavalry.
Faf 6......some costly errors, but good energy, still waiting for a break
Beast 5.....low energy game
Nyakane....not on long enough
Strauss 4....really disappointing captaincy and form
Malherbe 3....penalties in the loose, dominated in the scrums
Redlinghuis 4....dominated until the Irish subbed their starter.
Etzebeth 7.... Best lineout forward, our only hard muscle
Steph 7 .....best contributions when the game opened up....try him at 7
Mostert ...not on long enough
Louw 5....our only contributor on the deck, but not convincing
Kolisi 2....will never be a test flank
Whiteley 9....lifted the whole team, superb try.
Vermeulen 4...not the Thor we know

Strauss was very good in second half. Otherwise no major blunders. I do think though that M apoe was ok. Who could replace him right now?

I would have played Allende at 13 and Janse van Rensburg at 12....too late for that now. I would pretty much start the team that finished the game. But I think Redlinghuis is a vulnerability.

Jantjies missed a penalty line kick in the second half - remember,

Jantjies was an observer rather than a real participant in the Bok recovery. It wasn't a nightmare by any means but certainly not influential.

The problem with Jantjies is more psychological than physical - he missed kicks at goal yesterday - I think three out of 11 kicks aimed at goal - ie 27,3% of all goal kicks. His kicking game was ineffective and merely resulted in possession turnovers - often losing territory as a result, while his defense was iffy and his contribution to attacking play near to zero. Jantjies under pressure is not a nice sight to see,
