Willie 8.....brilliant, a few small mistakes. Nkosi 8.....fine attacking play, a few super open field tackles. Am 4....missed 1 of 2 tackles, 2 turnovers conceded.....seemed very unsure Allende 6....vintage tractoring, feeble missed tackle on Brown for yet another try conceded. Dyantyi...an exciting debut, a few ambitious errors. A smart player. Pollard 7...wobbly kicking, but made the kicks down the stretch. Poor tackle on Brown and generally. But his urgency, positive passing and acceleration of the line were big. Faff 9...showed the value of the snipe, heroic tackling and hugely improved tactical kicking. Beast 7....strong on his side of the scrum, good tight/loose play Bongi 7.5....pinpoint lineout throws. Lively in the loose. Wilco 5....rough first 2 scrums, settled after that Snyman 9....brilliant lineout service and one steal....epic bust....huge workrate Mostert 6....a quiet day, gifted the Poms the penalty at the half Kolisi 5...poor penalty and then defence against Itoje, a non factor. Du Preez 5....silly first penalty gave Poms initial mo...worked hard without acheiving much. Vermeulen 9....a colossus, taking high balls, dominating the breakdown....providing mongrel. Kitshoff 7....powerful scrumming Du Toit 6....solid in his few scrums, powerful around the ruck. Notshe 5....reduces physicality, unable to reach the speedy May Stephanie 6....one good kick off take. Van Zyl 5....stripped in the pass, huge step down after Faf. Jantjies 4....lots of orders, but never even tries to get across to stop the last try. Gelant.....not enough to judge.

Well I never - the liar is back

Der Allende did not miss the initial tackle  on Brown was on Pollard and by the time De Allende got near enough to make a tackle Brown  was on the tryline and despite a successful tackle by De Allende a try was scored.     You also missed what happened in the case of the first Nkosi try? - 7

So Beast was outstanding and Louw was OK.   The scrums while those two were on was poor to feeble.    It was totally turned around when they were benched,  So they get 7 and 5 - how is that possible? - 5 and 4 more likely.

Mostert = missed tackles as well and produced very little - 4

Pollard was good in attacking and a disaster in defending  - 6

Silence is golden in your case Pervert. Here's what Chip-ou thought about your views on the team: 20:07 So mike In essence our entire pack is useless. Not sure I agree with you... As usual. I try refrain from making extreme statements in general. ... But in your case... You are the weakest link. Goodbye! ........ 'You are the weakest link'....yep....I forgot your rating. I give you a 1.5 outof 10, you were right about Am, totally wrong about the rest.

The tractor was better than expected. Faf, Vermeulen, Willie and Pollard won it for us.

The Official SharkBok Rankings---------------------------

Willie le Roux: 9

A brilliant playmaker that was able to bring the wingers into the game more. One of the best fullbacks in the world, if not the best. He brings an extra dimension to the Bok backline, as he did during the Meyer era. Alister Coetzee really blundered this selection more than any other.

It would be interesting to see him playing in an All Black team with other backs that also have very good passing skills. He is a revelation for the Boks on the attack, enter at 2nd receiver.

S’bu Nkosi: 8.0

He has the physical presence for test rugby. He could be in for a very long Bok career. He is a very dangerous ball in hand with a good step.

Both wings sometimes seemed to be playing too flat on defence and were taken out of the game on most of the English tries.

Lukhanyo Am: 6

His first test was solid.

Damian de Allende: 6.5

Done a few offloads and avoided going into contact on every opportunity. His tackle was the worst of the season so far. All he had to do was put his arms around the player and hold on.

Aphiwe Dyantyi: 7.5

Very effective on the kick and chase. Showed test calmness under pressure pop passing to make the space for Nkosi to score. He looks very confident when running with the ball. Strong with a good step.

Handre Pollard: 6.5

His running lines on attack are very good- and this gives Willie Leroux lots of time and space to tun on to the ball at full speed. Pole kicking was bad and did not do the much territorial kicking. Made a few silly tackles carries instead of offloading to nearby forwards.

Faf de Klerk: 8.5

High work rate. Seems to play better with a good coach.

Duane Vermeulen: 8.5

Without Marx, the breakdown was always going to be an issue. It would be good to see both Marx and Vermeulen at the same breakdown.

Dumb-Luc du Preez: 5.

Powerful, but not much thought process. Always seemed to take the ball from a standing position.

Siya Kolisi: 6.5

Decent game. If a captain should ever get credit, the turn around on the scoreboard should

Franco Mostert: 6

High work rate at the ruck.

RG Snyman: 8

Physical and showed good speed. Will he gas Etzebeth and

Wilco Louw: 5.5

Average at best

Bongi Mbonambi: 6.5

Solid the whole game. Most lineouts were near the front of the lineout though.

Tendai Mtawarira: 6

ISolid

Substitutes:

Steven Kitshoff: 8-

Thomas du Toit - 7.5- Looked good, and at a place

Pieter-Stephanie - 7

Houwig's ratings are remarkably similar to yours Shark, especially for the Beast: Here’s how I rated the Boks in Johannesburg: Willie le Roux: 8 First Bok game in a year and a half … and the Wasps-based sorcerer looked like he’d never been away. Played absolutely pivotal part in fightback from early disorder, often at fulcrum of a necessary volley of Bok reply tries and gliding into space quite beautifully. One important track-back tackle on flying open-side flanker Tom Curry, too. S’bu Nkosi: 7.5 Eureka! The Sharks debutant, after some early defensive angst (not the only one), grew into the Test wholesomely as SA finally showed off a winger with predatory instincts - including a brace of tries - plus welcome physical presence. Lukhanyo Am: 6 Perhaps the one Bok backline player who didn’t get at least one significant opportunity to truly “express himself”, but satisfactory maiden start nevertheless. One or two fumbles, though also some deft touches … and showed determination over the ball. Damian de Allende: 6.5 Caught a couple of kick-offs assuredly, and demonstrated strong leg-drive in tight space at times. Still the odd question mark defensively, but clever offload for Nkosi’s first dot-down. Aphiwe Dyantyi: 7 Extremely lively and fearless; compelling start to Test career. Committed chaser, won an aerial duel and provided smart inside pass for second Nkosi try. Handre Pollard: 6.5 Started badly … glaring missed tackle, as Mike Brown dotted for England as quickly as fourth minute for 10-0 lead. But he’s mature enough not to be rattled; grew into key conduit in several decisive Bok attacking plays, including sublime pass for Le Roux’s try. Place-kicking could have been more clinical. Faf de Klerk: 8 Breath of fresh air, when you consider how Boks have struggled in recent times to find a commanding No 9. His try sparked comeback, and clearly got his own juices flowing. Constant menace to English: Jeremy Guscott said it was a tribute to that very fact that error-prone Maro Itoje appeared to “virtually man-mark him”. Sniped and kicked cleverly, and tackled like a demon. Duane Vermeulen: 8.5 That diesel engine may have accumulated some “kays” now, but the brawny eighth-man simply oozed intent, right from the word go. How could anyone say after that vitally robust showing that he’s a waste of space for RWC ’19? Best Bok man at breakdowns, by some distance, a lineout factor, and simply wouldn’t surrender an inch in general exchanges. Yster, to borrow from a familiar language … Jean-Luc du Preez: 6 Grafted honestly, though leaked an off-feet penalty early on and couldn’t fully assert himself when Boks were on front foot. Subbed 10 minutes after break. Siya Kolisi: 6.5 Look, his own A-game of the 2017 international season is still not quite there. But you have to heap praise on the history-making skipper for the calm way he geed up his troops for the haul back after the rare chaos of the first 17 minutes. It was a good way to win hearts; he largely did that. Franco Mostert: 7 He just goes and goes for the Lions … and simply did so again for the Springboks on his home ground. Got stuck in near-ceaselessly where the sun don’t shine, cleaning out and aiding mauls with usual vigour. RG Snyman: 8 The birth of a new lock giant in our country? Tremendous debut. Physical, intense, always hard-working. One terrific, athletic 50m dash soon after halftime that had crowd in raptures. Also a manna-from-heaven lineout poach late on, with result in balance. Wilco Louw: 5.5 Uncertain start last weekend; same again here. Went straight down at first scrum and penalised. But was stabilising quite nicely for remainder of his stint. Bongi Mbonambi: 7 Coach Erasmus said beforehand that confidence in the feisty hooker’s conditioning offset the risk of his undercooked status in game-time: he was proved correct. Mbonambi foraged and scrapped industriously for almost an hour; should only kick on further now. Tendai Mtawarira: 6 In his 99th Test, was workmanlike for 48 minutes without producing genuine “wow” factor. Maybe saving that for ton-up in Bloemfontein next weekend? Standout substitute: Steven Kitshoff: 7.5 Gave necessary oomph when unleashed off the bench against Wales last week … and produced a carbon copy here (and then some). Quickly asserted himself powerfully at scrum-time, and busied himself effectively at breakdowns and mauls. Good shifts off the splinters for Thomas du Toit and namesake Pieter-Steph, too.

Still a joke     The scrumming was iffy up to the time Du Toit and Kitshof came on,    What  did Mostert do to deserve a 7    He missed a couple of tackles and gave away a penalty.   Nothing e lse of note.    And Am???????  His defense was putrid.

Well a team high 16 tackles with 1 missed for a 94% success ratio qualifies for a 6 wouldn't you say.

Was it process tackles - whatever that may mean?   The original stats indicated 9 tackles and 2 misses - so I must accept that the revised tackle count is now correct and final. The fact is that it is one aspect of a positive nature,  for the rest he was totally ineffective.

Overall, the one player who made the most difference was Faf.

Smallest guy on the park but without him the Boks stood no chance of winning.

Made a ton of out front pin point passes that forced our usually flat footed line to run onto the ball. His speed of service was England's biggest menace of the day and he disrupted some great England territory to stifle their attack.

I though Pollard was excellent. Made some brilliant plays. His tee kicking wasn't great. Missed the infamous Brown tackle though.

Duane aside, none of the forwards were spectacular.

Kitshoff is ranged from solid to monstrous.

Beast was just solid. Made no big carries or offloads. Pretty much the same for Wilco and Tank. Overall we had scrum dominance and that should remain the same for the last two games. With Marx's return things will look better.

Mostert went relatively unnoticed despite probably visiting the most rucks. There's value in that work rate.

Snyman sits behind Duane as second best forward on the day. One crucial lineout intervention that may have been match saving.

Still would like to see Goboko there.

Allende has to go with Esterhuizen starting in his place. This has now become a no brainer.

Bongi played miles better than expected and I'm happy for him. Heart goes a long way. Not a shade of Marx though.

PSDT should probably start for DUPs next time round.

Sorry but selections should not be done on personal likes and dislikes.  What no-brainer are you talking about?   De Allende made 10 tackles missing none and although you and Mozart try to pin Brown's try on him - it was utter BS.

Also he drew in two defenders and off-loaded the ball to Nkosi in enough space to launch a successful try by the latter,  You also missed that one - so perhaps you did not want to see it.

It is no use - De Allende will remain.  However, I would move him to 13 to replace Am who  was totally ineffective and in fact a liability and bring in Esterhuizen at 12.

Maybe you are right about Du Toit replacing Du Preez at 7 - but I would prefer it if he replaces Mostert - as the line-out calling by Mostert was poor,   He only took one line-out on own throw because he called the line-outs invariably to go to Snyman and Vermeulen.   Against other teams it may go pear-shaped  and Eddie Jones may have realized it and place his best line-out jumpers to face those two and ignore Mostert.   It would be suicidal against a team like the AB's where at least four forwards must be available to take throw-ins.

Mike I would have Serfontein, Am, Esterhuizen and Kwagga.

All of them hit the gain line, pass, think and move better than DomLende.

Let's not forget Werner Kok either.

Allende's claim to fame yesterday was drawing a couple of defenders and making a pass. If that's the new gold standard for a 12 then by gosh we've fallen a long way.

I also don't know what game you were watching because De Allende met a slowed down Brown on the 5m line and failed st stop him. That's what everyone else saw. What did you see?

We've become so used to Kriel and De Allende screwing up things that when they have average performances we think that they belong. Jessica doesn't and neither does DimLinda.

Ja Mike, I'm no DdA fan, but that offload to Mkosi probably made the try possible and that basically started the comeback.  Possible game changer. The momentum  changed into our favour after that try. I see people are looking for reasons to slate Damian.

Draad

DomLinda's career might go one of two ways from here.

Either the seemingly skilled backs selected now are going toto show him up as not being on their level...

Or he is going to feed off of them and up his game.

He's presently one of the most experienced guys in the side and his performances should over the course of this year not be on par with theirs. Players are supposed to improve with experience and he's now in his prime so failing some stellar performances my view would be that somebody else should get a shot.

He was bog ordinary yesterday and comparing him to Am who was playing in his first real test, well it kinda shows how little we've come to expect from LindA.

Conversely one could also say that his missed tackle started the downward spiral of the first quarter of the game.

Pl;um

I know De Allende is one of your pet hates and it really is useless to argue with you about his role in the team.   I support players on the basis of performance - you on the basis of the provincial franchise they play for.

However, there is one topic nobody talks about and that is Etzebeth.  He will have to up his normal game by at least 50% if he wants to be selected ahead of Snyman in future..   That may be an interesting discussion topic = the rest are just repeats of what is known repeatedly on site.

However, let me warn you against one Mozart misdemeanors on site,   He gives fake names to players he dislikes and give false descriptions of what really happen in games.   Stay away from fake names - leave that to the old discredited liar.

Actually both Snyman and Etzebeth can play 5. There's quite possibly our best combination, assuming Etzebeth's injury isn't career threatening.
