Makes final list of 6 nominees for world player of the year along with Kolbe I’m guessing you wont concede that you have got it completely wrong when it comes to this quality player? Made that more impressive by virtue of the fact that he is playing out of position on the flank

LMAO!
Congrats to Pieter-Steph . . . and to Cheslin Kolbe, of whom Moffie asked "Is Kolbe really going to work out as a test wing? I doubt it.".
Lots of egg!

This type of thing happens regularly to prejudiced idiots like Mozart.   He is just totally deluded as a result.

If the Springboks win tomorrow - and Du Toit made the same massive contribution he made in the semi - he is certainly the player who will win the Player of the Year Award.   I see some real egg going to the egg mountain the fool lives under already.

Kolbe caught a few high balls ... and showed he was brave when facing bigger men ... but is that really worth a nomination for best player of the year? It's not exactly as though he stood head and shoulders above the rest.

Common??

Has the selection standards dropped so low that even the slightly above average can have a crack at the title?

What next ... Siya Kolisi wins the SA PLAYERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD??

If Coetzee cannot see that Kolbe is out-and-out a Sevens player and not suited to play 15 man-rugby - he must be more nuts than he was considered to be previously. However, by now we know the Coetzee norm - the smaller the better. Unfortunately that does not work out and Kolbe will be a non-factor at WP.

To add insult to injury, Steph has been defensively exposed in every test, even by minnows. How like you his defensive gaff against New Zealand, leading to a try? Running out into the wrong man. His 2.1 metres per carry are hardly the stuff of legends, now is it? If you consider that the bulk of his runs came from the undefended ruck against New Zealand, it's actually lower then that! Yet, he is player of the year? What of his misses on defence which are not accounted for in the stats sheet? All those cleanly beaten rushes. The Church of Steph never learns .

It's basically a popularity contest.

How did the yank get into the shortlist?

In fact, why is the shortlist even announced before the final?

Is the POTY chosen before the final?

These sorts of accolades are corrupt in most sports, and even if they aren't they a re subjective.

Subjective or not - to make the list you have to be a pretty useful player Not rating a player on this list says a lot about your rugby observations I’d start questioning my sanity if I did not rate a player on the list
