Awesome news that since I arrived in the US, the number of rugby channels has grown from one to 3 channels !

I have seen some interesting spelling on the TV guide though - Western Provience and Eastern Provience....etc....doesn't matter, at least we get to watch the rugby - and in HD.

I hope they are planning to cover the world cup.

Sharky we get the Direct TV channels . They usually dont cover "non series" matches....like the YE tour games. But BeInSports sometimes does. RWCs tend to be put out for bid, and sadly the Networks sometimes pick them up. I say sadly because you are second to any college football game. Still it's much better than it was.

Invented electricity for the masses, the light bulb, mass transit, first mass produced motorcar, flight, revolutionized oil refinement into gasoline and a few other things....sometimes I wonder myself....how on earth do these dumb Americans get so lucky ?

More recently, the Internet, Microsoft, Apple, Coca-Cola......amazing !

 They weren't Americans that invented those things.....they were immigrants to America

At least all 3 of those were educated in the cr@ppy American education system.

Must be something in the water here in America, that makes these immigrants come here and invent stuff....

I dunno, I am drinking straight from the tap here and I haven't got much smarter yet Maybe I am first generation - perhaps if I had kids they would invent time travel or perpetual motion or something. Something which once again will affect the entire world.

Arthur is a bit of a simpleton....he talks to other simpletons who agree nothing was invented by Americans.
The fact is education in the US is a more social thing. Hard science is taught to the few who have the capacity to use it. Make no mistake though there are plenty of them.
In the US education doesn't get serious  until post grad....but so many more Americans do post grad. Wise up Arthur. 

Arthur will be pleased to know that my wife had a medical issue in 2012 which nearly took her life and now has a chronic and incurable medical condition prohibiting her from ever having children, so I will not be proliferating Arthur.

I am South African though - you will probably like me more even though South Africans can only really claim fame for inventing the Kreepy Krauly and pioneering cardiac transplant. More recently the only news from South Africa is about corruption really.

The fact is, unless you dont use a computer, or electricity, or flight, or a motorcar or toilet paper for that matter - you are using something every single day invented, pioneered or revolutionized in the USA by people born in America.

Grand ol place this - nobody likes us - but the great thing about being American is that we dont really give a sh*t

Ja, ja Sharkie, there are quite a couple of very clever Yanks out there, but they all have a genetic deficiency and that is they could be at times be very hardegat: It beats me why they are so stubborn to acknowledge that Celsius is a better system than Fahrenheit and also why they stick to pounds instead of kilograms.

I am actually just getting under the okes skin. To be truthful there are a lot of people here that are quite ignorant. I can understand why people develop a general impression of Americans being dumb.

A cashier in Target told me the other night she wont go to the State Fair because she is scared of getting Ebola....As someone who works in medicine, I had to bite my tongue. But besides her complete misunderstanding of the disease, the fact that she works in Target and touches thousands of articles touched by other people every day didn't seem to bother her LOL !

I already speak in Pounds, miles, gallons, inches etc. I guess it is what they know...

Also it took me back to primary school maths when I was hanging paintings etc. and my wife asks me what half of 21 and 3/8ths of an inch is....

All the rest of the measures are coming through nicely. When I got here I still had my GPS set in kms. I recently got a new car, and I didn't bother changing the GPS - quarter of a mile at 70 Mph makes perfect sense to me now...LOL

Its amazing how tough these things are that one never thought would be an issue

Hey Bliks - yes dude that did happen. My wife (who comes from a fine and much loved Afrikaans family) literally nearly pee'd in her pants. I went into the Heeren 2000 in Menlyn to get a pair of shoelaces....and trying to be conscientious to an older gentleman, I spoke Afrikaans and nicely asked the guy if he had skoenlappers....my wife laughed so hard I thought she was going to pass out from oxygen deprivation.

I am glad to be back. There are the usual grumpy okes around - but that I suppose is life.
