I take onboard your thoughts on Bavuma but not of Elgar's. I'm stuck on Cook and Amla to go and now I'd add Bavuma to the list. Elgar scored a gritty ton and was top scorer in the second innings on a tricky wicket....to me that's quality.

AB for Bavuma and Morkel for Abbott now that he is off to England, would probably strengthen the team. For the rest I go with your view that if it aint broke don't fix it. Ultimately Cook will be replaced and also Amla if he doesnt find real form....but I wouldn't do it right now.

Amla isn't getting any younger, had an ordinary tour of Oz and has continued in the same vein in the current series. The team desperately needs an allrounder, someone has to plug that hole, fortunately we have a decent spinner in Maharaj. Watchout for Oz, they are rapidly unearthing future young great bats. Don't look like we are.

Bavuma is a class act who has been on the receiving end of some silly dismissals against Sri Lanka one not being out at all. You don't just discard the kid when he has shown so much promise.
Cook is utterly useless against a quality attack - unfortunately he made a 100 in his last innings against Oz to save his place and is now benefiting from a poor Sri Lankan attack.
Cook is going to be sorely exposed against England this year.
I'm really disappointed to see Rossouw go but understand his call give the poor investment in him at test level. If Domingo says he is closest thing to AB then why the fuck had he not been playing test cricket for the past 5 years.
As talented as de Kock....now a wasted talent
