I take your point about De Kock being half Kocked and I agree the kid is talented. Problem I think he has is in the way he triggers....there's an extra movement which will work against him. Dessie Haynes towards the latter part of his career adopted the same stance without a great deal of success, Amla has it right and he's the one player Quentin can learn from to sort his trigger movement.

 

Anyone wondering why I'm starting a new thread on the same subject...the answer is simple, the blog below started off well but has sadly gone south.

 

To me Elgar looks like an opening bat should look....the bat is in line quickly, and he plays forward when he should play forward. De Kock looks like another one of our current crop that wants to work the ball to leg all the time....read Smith Faff, Amla. These guys have been very succesful, but the technique requires tremendous concentration as they all play with a "small bat". Can de Kock succeed, I suppose so in the light of all that, but he can't be losing focus as he did during much of his time at the wicket in the second test.

Yeah his tendency to play everything to leg needs to be corrected.....it is less pronounced than Smith and he looks a lot more gifted a bat than Smith.......but he needs to play with a straight bat
