Mozart This is from an article on the issue of the aging All Black players dealt with elsewhere on this site:- "Like any footballer, if he doesn't perform, there's only one way to go. "If he's picked for every one of the All Blacks tests and he doesn't play well and we don't win, then he nor anyone else would expect he would keep getting picked." Meyer disregards performance consistently and his squad has a very high percentage of performance failures in its make up. You constantly damn performance as a norm and keep on harping on experience as the only norm for Springbok selection. In the process you find examples of where younger players failed and covered up the failures of experienced players either by silence or by not responding to comments on experience player failures. The other trait in your comment is that you use stats selectively and invent excuses when the stats indicate failure on the part of experienced players. The fact that experience should be coupled to performance should be the norm. If that is the norm the following non-performers should not be anywhere near the Bok squad:- Kirchner, De Jonngh, Morne Steyn (if he repeats last years efforts), Pienaar, Alberts, Van der Merwe (both), Kruger, Du Plessis (Jannie) and Steenkamp . This is not the full list of persistent under-achievers - but it only relates to failing players over the past year. I am not confident that Morne Steyn will not repeat his putrid performance in the tests last year in the upcoming RC series. There were signs in the later Super 15 games that he was going the same way as he did last year - and if that be the case he should also not be in the squad at all. Add to the list other persistent under-performers like Spies and Francois Steyn and we really are in deep trouble. It is a horrible situation where nearly half of the Meyer squad is on the list of questionable performers and I expect that we are in trouble.

Remember that rugby is a team game; all 14 of you make sure you pass the ball to Jonah. - Laurie Mains 1995

Well OOM ....you have two conditions for a player not being picked.......I quote: . "...he doesn't play well AND we don't win" . Well you'll be happy to know the Boks won every game de Jongh started last year. So by your logic he should be picked. Thanks for that insight. And before you start blustering again, remember.....you said it, not me!

Mozart Don't go off on the diversion trail again. De Jongh did Zilch in that game and he was a atrocious defender in the Super 15 competition. The Springboks won those games despite two handicaps - Steenkamp and De Jongh. They are the first ones on the list to go - with zero performance credentials. Next time you try that trick and want to put De Jongh on a pedestal - kindly remember to quote the ESPN scrum stats on him on the games in question - so that we can see your point clearly. Otherwise no reasonable person will fall for the stunt you try and pull off here. However, you did not comment on the need that the ideal combination is performance coupled to experience. Without performance experience is meaningless as a selection criterium. - from your previous postings it obviously means that in your book performances count for nothing.
