Brother mozart, I respectfully disagree with the nonsense coming out of your exhaust.

I honestly feel that you are just egging people on.

Some of your assessments are horrid, one dimensional and reek!

Combrink... nothing wrong with his pace. He played on the EOYT with an injury. He is the most complete wing we have besides Habana!
Venter... he comes from thr Free State, where they are encouraged to play ball, and is put in the Bok setup and is expected to play Koppe Stamp rugby.
PSDT... he is not a flanker ass! But as a number 5, he is a fantastic athlete and lineout exponent! What drivel are you on about? he is the most physical player we have at the moment

Happy to discuss.. without the CleanCut jibes and racial slander!

Mozart has his own weird assessment of players - and it will not help to try and get fac ts into his prejudiced head.
The problem with Du Toit was when he started posting a threat to Matfield in the Springbok team - in Mozart's book there was nothing but to attack Du Toit constantly and that never stopped.
In the case of centers/flyhalfs  Mozart favours Fat Fransie and any other player is to be demonized to maximum extent.
You can name any player playing at center or flyhalf and the demonizing will be continuous.    In that case scoring of tries means nothing - matter of fact Mozart does not think try-scoring is important.    Mozart believes sco ring of tries by backline players is a mortal sin to be avoided at all costs.

Brother Chip-ou, Combrink is ordinary, Venter is ordinary.....these guys are not going to trouble the top teams. They are CC players, made to look good playing against domestic opposition. Stephanie has never been able to provide the lineout edge a smaller lock, who isnt a monster in the tight, should provide. So what do you want to debate. Those are opinions, you have your own differing opinions. But at least I have provided a few facts....lineout stats, turnovers etc. Do give us your opinion, but also a few facts or examples.

I understand Mikes frustrations with Mozarts comments. Mozart bases his choices on mathematics and past long out-dated performances…stats. It’s rather like speaking to a human automation…a computer. Sometimes, even though he hasn’t even seen the game he sets himself up as an authority…and repeats the same old unsubstantiated criticisms against certain players. Even when he uses stats…like PSDT being a light weight at 251 lbs…he overlooks the fact that his overstaying hero in 2015 was only 243 lbs.

He fails to see the bigger picture…stats only don’t give an accurate overall picture of a players talent…or of the game …there is more to rugby than this…several others spot  this… Saffex sees this and also Biltong Bek (who left this forum because of senseless ongoing drivel and individual insults)…so does Rooiaas (who is not my favourite person as you know) but sees the overall picture reasonably well. So does Blikkies and Oi Matey and even newboy Quacky…we don’t always agree and see eye to eye but this should not lead to childish verbal assassination.

He suffers from prejudice and bias against certain players but punts his past favourites over and over again…like a stuck recording….no 9 no 9 no 9…

One thing he has his good points…music and financial knowledge

nothing wrong witha fit Fransie.
He'd be our best 12!
Can't compare his distribution to de Allende!
Id love to see Venter at 13 with Frans at 12.
Venter is world class with space.

I love you too Sebastian. Ask yourself this though, when most on this Board were postively giddy with optimism, who told you it was going to be a bad year. And who picked the Boks for the home game against Oz. And who warned that Kriel and Whiteley and Mostert were too slight for international rugby. And who told you specifiically that Lambie was not a flyhalf. And who first warned against Allende's defence.......to mention a few things. I caught flak for all these views....which all turned out to be spot on. Why? Because I don't adopt blue sky views based on domestic rugby....I measure these guys for fatal flaws at the international level, which is as different from domestic rugby as Union is from League.

ok, i agree that Willemse is a good player and is incredibly physical.
what i dont agree with is that Stephanie doesn't offer us any go forward.

If you look back on the RC, he gave us an incredible amount of momentum as well as athleticism.

He had a torrid time as a blind side flank on the EOYT and was shown up a few times and to be honest, i think that fuxked up his confidence against Wales.

Don't write him off based on his last 2 games.

Chip-ou I have to say I didn't see 'incredible momentum'.....I saw some decent performances. But in reality if Steph doesnt provide an edge at lineout and open field tackling, and he didn't on the YE tour, why not have two massive bruisers. In fact our most reliable lineout forward this year has been Etzebeth, who never lost one ball on his throw. The man is also faster than Steph, ask Ben Smith who he gassed in the 2014 RC. If we want explosive 'blocky' power of the kind Willemse provides, Eben is a shoo-in at 5. To me this all fits with a power pack, which we havent had with Mostert, Kriel, Whiteley and a few others. The Boks will not succeed without a monster pack, it's our only counter to Pacific Island backs. Ultimately Steph may not negate that concept, but he certainly doesn't enhnce it.

Wonderful concept - the so-called power pack.   He wants loosies to be powerful but useless in ball protection and recovery.   That destroys about 40% of what is required from forwards.
Add to that Fat Fransie at flyhalf and there goes 80% of effective play - so what else is to be expected from the BS also known as "Traditional Bok Rugby".

Please note not a word about s coring of tries - but moans about defense deficiency as per normal.

How can 40% of what is required from a pack be ball protection and recovery. What about ball aquisition, making metres, defence and scoring tries. Why dontcha assign values to those variables Tokkie.

I have said that ball protection and recovery is of the utmost importance - that is where Meyer and Coetzee flopped mostly.
You really caused me to accept that you are interested in scoring tries - which I have really doubted.   Most tries result from effective and quick ball recovery at breakdowns and from counterattacks resulting from ball losses and aimless kicking.   Very few comes from dud rugby advocated by Meyer, Coetzee and other SA dud coaches.
Ball acquisition is rarely conceded in tight 5 play - and rarely lead to scoring of tries.
Points are frequently conceded in penalties - normally stemming from breakdown play deficiencies.
The major SA problems stemmed from playing repetitive and dumb rugby - doing the same thing all the time and from a lack of a game plan.   Meyer had none and  Coetzee even less so.
The major problem for years now was the SA loosie combination - we did not have quality loosies for years and the only reasonable loosies since re-admission was Maybe Burger and Vermeulen  - but both went stale over the last year or two.   The rest were recycled tight 5 players - slow and witless and then you  cannot understand why our rugby went backwards.
It is not all that difficult though - but what is happening now is that Jones and Venter showed us what is really wrong in SA rugby.

Well the whole approach of criticising individual players at this stage is a fruitless and useless exercise...that is not the problem...our rugby system is a mess and run by a bunch of complete and utter idiots...at this stage we could have the best players in the world and the system would eventually destroy them. The heads of rugby administration cow tail to corrupt political agendas...the coach is doesn't inspire players and does not have the ability to implement plans and stategies that work...he is not a leader amongst young men has no clear direction and consequently sets off a negative atmosphere amongst the squad...nobody however good can play to their full potential in these conditions.

There are many changes needed, in fact not just changes but a complete revolution if we are ever going to become a contender again, getting a foreign coach under this enviroment won't work either unless he is left alone to implement his plans...political interference will first of all put any decent foreign coach off and besides any good coach wants free range and should have deep intelligence and vision...he cannot operate in this present enviroment.

So it's a complete lost cause until this happens...we must get used to getting trashed by the top 5 nations and eventually struggle to beat Italy, Georgia, PI's and Japan.

And that's the truth 'cause the pull to go and play overseas is the only option for talented young players to earn a respectable living and build a future...at this stage the Springbok jersey has lost it's sparkle and is getting to a stage when it will mean squat.

Moz did make some risky calls regarding certain players early on that turned out to be correct. Kriel, De Allende, Jantjies etc. So credit where due. However, there is a problem with monster packs. Have a look at the first Aus vs NZ game this year. Aus totally dominated the scrum and it helped them squat! NZ, just got the ball out quickly, and by the time the Aussie forwards were done slapping one another on the arse for their great achievement, the rest of the team was defending for their lives. It comes down to a balance between power and mobility. Too much of one and not enough of the other, and you lose.
PSDT and Combrink, are just fine. Combrink coming off an injury, and PSDT being played out of position are credible reasons for the below par performance in the later part of the season.

Have to disagree. Stephanie will probably never play flank again, so embarrassing was that Pom outing. But he will be our third lock for a while. Combrink is a very ordinary player, who wouldn't have made the Bok team if not A Lein. He wont last long. The funny thing is though, the only reason Combrink is even a consideration is his boot. So we have posters howling for us to run, run run....but they want a kicking wing. Hilarious!

Your comments are getting more twisted as time goes on.   Your constant attacks on certain players are getting a farce especially since your accounts about what happened on the field of play is twisted beyond recognition.
The question remains - SA rugby is in a mess (has been for years - and all you come up is repeating nonsensical garbage.   Have you nothing else to contribute.

South African rugby was fine in the top 2 in the World through the WC semi.....where we played NZ very close unlike Oz in the final. Then three things happened. 1 We abandoned our team and put in a bunch of CC players 2 We were convinced we had to emulate NZ and pass the ball around in our 22. 3 We hired a poor coach. Reverse those 3 things and our rugby will be fine. All this BS, giving up our pride as a great rugby power is non manly hysteria.

Well we'll see what happens in the future...it augurs further embarrassments...

1. The "bunch of CC players" as you call them are franchise players too and the Lions did themselves proud...the only SA franchise to come within a country mile of winning the Supers...the rest of our franchises were embarrassing to say the least.
2. The NZ style of rugby is not unique...it's the way rugby is supposed to be played with 15 men...they just do it very much better...
3. This ones correct and we now certainly know it.

There is very little wrong with our individuals technically...the problem is the "heart...the spirit...the essence" (call it what you like) has gone...not surprising with a clown that has absolutely no clue and direction of what he's doing...the SA panic syndrone creator...just look at his body language and even worst what effects it has on the players...

Actually let me stop you right there. Combrink, Mapoe, Rohan, Jantjies, Faf, Redlinghuis, Marx, Kriel, Whiteley, Mostert.....all had their chances, some in almost every game. And not one, not a single player has staked a proven claim as a Bok. And Jantjies, Mapoe, Faf, Mostert and Whiteley have pretty much disqualified themselves. You can continue to just believe, because that's what the herd do....count me out. They will be mid table in 2017.

Hey Mozart you're aiming your rifle at the wrong target...all players including those Lions players have "had their chances" and my stance and belief is: under the present circumstances it will digress and go from bad to worst...I made my opinion clear...nothing will change with this clown and the present system.

This is a belief that not everybody shares here but indeed a very obvious one to me...

"The cart does not come before the horse"...if you get my drift. Get the "system" right and then we might attract the right person to coach. ..a coach that demands freedom to reconstruct, build confidence, has objective step by step plans to fix this mess.

Simply a guy who is strong, a man that young men can respect, a true leader, positive, a good track record and puts his hands to the plow and ofcourse knows how to do the job and knows where he is going and taking the team (squad).

Sure...but you again miss the point.

"And I disagree again....great players excel in poor teams. No reason you can't beak a tackle or dominate your opponent just because your team is losing. It's just another excuse."

But rugby's a team game and one or 2 prima donnas might sparkle but you cannot play rugby and win with 2 players...Italy's probably got 2 of the best players in the world (or used to have) Sergio Parisse at 8 and prop Martín Castrogiovanni. Georgia has the best flanker who also plays No 8 and lock, Mamuka Gorgodze but their mammoth contributions don't win games.

No you miss the point....excuses are continuously made our under performers because the team is not playing well. My point is that's no excuse, you can turn in a great game in a losing cause.....which is not to say 2 or 3 good performances will turn around the team. Our players woeful play is 90% on them....the team's woeful play is 40% on them 60% on the coach. Now do you get it?
