Over the last couple of days I watched a programme on the murder of a woman in a place called Paris - outside of Chicago. Two guys got framed by the Police and local prosecutor for the murder. One was sentenced to death - the other one got a life sentence. They both spent many years in prison - the death penalty one 17 years.
It was found that a big businessman was involved and that he paid one key witness $45 000 to give evidence to the effect that the two guys murdered the women and that the FBI was informed by the accused of corruption on the part of the prosecutor. The lawyer representing he accused was apparently also bribed not to make a proper defence,
The businessman was a big funder of the Democratic Party and when his role came up during the subsequent investigations - the Governor of Illinois hushed up further action.
The long and the short is that the two accused were ultimately released from prison and the real murderer never found.
Question : Is it only in Illinois that this type of corruption happens or is the system really corrupt?
