Last night in a comment on Graeme Smith's retirement from international cricket - you mentioned something like you hope it does not influence a certain Victor. Since I am not aware of anybody by the name of Victor playing a prominent role in cricket - I twice asked who this mysterious Victor is you gave referred tom but received n response.
If this happen to be Victor Matfield - I have a serious question for you - is there any player under 30 you do want in the Springbok team - irrespective of how the older players actually perform and purely on reputation?
I can remember that the final whistle was hardly blown - there was a gushing message from you on this site saying how wonderful his performance was and how he showed that he belongs. Yet he had a match that is to be expected from a Club player at 34 years of age - in other words not of any particular value and in certain respects seriously substandard.
If the mysterious Victor is indeed Matfield - did you not notice that the moment he came off the bench in the first two games that the Bulls scrum weakened considerably - in other words he does not provide the necessary support in scrumming. He was very average in all other aspects of play and not at all better than the locks he replaced. Matter of fact he was poor compared to the lacklustre Franco van der Merwe.
Some comments - please.
