Looking at Mozart's writings on this site - the followng are the players he supports for selection:-

The problem is that the above players are not selected on the basis of performance or ability to carry out all the activities they are supposed to undertake and that is totally disregarded by him in his musings:-
Lets look at some of the players individually:-
* Centers are not there to defend only - they must also bring something to the fore insofar as attacking rugby is concerned. Juan de Jongh is really showing all the signs of being the worst defending center in all SA franchises. He had less games last year - but his defense in those games were horrible. Jacque Fourie last year was as slow as a carthorse. Although his defense or the Springboks last year were in the main sound - there were cases where players ran past him like he was not there because of the speed deficiency - another season in Japan and a year older - there is every reason to believe that his pace would have worsened since then. He is absolutely useless in attacking play.
* Francois Steyn is absolutely clueless what is required from a flyhalf - He cannot read the game and his decisions are shockingly poor. His kicks are often enough aimless and non-productive and his passing game seriously deficient. His defense is a nightmare. The only SA flyhalf or center who has not made a single line break this year with a very serious speed deficiency. He is a good goal kicker - apparently the only requirement Mozart set for flyhalfs. A definite killer of backline performances.
* Willem Alberts is a slow and ineffective 7. He plays no role in respect of ball protection and recovery in tackle situations and he does not know how to pass balls or catch them either. He is limited to some ball caries in traffic and his defense in traffic is generally sound. However, in cases f more mobile players he cannot tackle players. Way too slow to be effective.
* Victor Matfield is a good line out jumper - but he slowed down over the past few years and his contribution to tight 5 play is minimal.
* Jannoe du Plesis is a joke in bad taste.
I made a number of suggested changes to that lot and the response was crazy.
