Have you as a good US citizen gone to cast your ballot yet? Did you vote for the local KKK asscociated candidate as expected?
Mozart - today is mid-term election day in the USA
Moffie is the local KKK candida te.
True that Pakie
I know more about American Sttate capittals than you know - I will lay you a bet on that one. Of course I know Chicago is not the capital of Illinois - Springfield is - but it is the biggest city in Illinois
Of course I know whewre Chicago is and I amde a joe about the KKK - and you are too dim to appreciate it. Illinois of course - but then Chicgo was the Al Capone headquarters and gangsters still thrive there - according to the US TV programmes.
Maybe I should have mentioned the Local Tea Party candidate - but you may be amiss o that one.
And doosdief is a close as you get when listening to the Ceradunce. He really is clueless.
And the result is . . . . .
The Republicans took the House. They control both Houses now.
Speculation is also that Hilary Clinton will run against Ron Paul's son in the Presidential election in 2 years.
Mozart will be devastated - the Repub licans also won the Governorship of Illinois.
Republicans rode a wave of voter discontent to seize control of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday, dealing a punishing blow to President Barack Obama that will limit his legislative agenda and may force him to make a course correction for his last two years in office.
The Republican rout was wide and deep in what was bound to be seen as a sharp rebuke to Obama, who has lurched from crisis to crisis all year and whose unpopularity made him unwelcome to Democratic candidates in many contested states.
The Republicans also strengthened their grip on the House of Representatives. When the new Congress takes power in January, they will be in charge of both chambers of Congress for the first time since elections in 2006.
THE USA might yet be saved from bankruptcy via Obama care which they simply cannot afford. Dont really see Obama as a success and clearly the American voters have had enough.
There is a tide in the affairs of men....let's hope the Republicans swim with the tide. The public doesn't feel well served by either party.
Problem is if a Republican is seen compromising it seems to almost be political suicide with the conservative base.
They had a problem - Roosevelt after selling the world short at Yalta and helping to establish Soviet Russia as a dominant military power in Eastern Europe - Truman became president in 1945 - He was faced by a threatening Soviet Union - the Berlin blockade being a major problem - and ended up losing tohe 1948 eection to a strongman Eisenhower. A good President - but he inherited a mess - the Cold War - that bedevilied world politics and let to the Korean War. Stood up to Russia well.
Then followed the Kennedy presidency - liberal policy at home - but the economy was not going well and the Russians were taunting the US through the Cuban missile crisis. So the answer was to start a war in Vietnam - always a way to boost the economy by increasing military equipment production and arming both sides in the conflict. After th Bay of Pigs fiasco - Kennedy was forced to act against the Russians and Cubans - so that was his major achievement. However, being from a family who made their money out of illicit liquor trade in the prohibition - with serious Mafia connctions - the question remains - who and how come Kennedy was assassinated. Not a good enough president with a serious problem.
Was followed by Johnson - whose single most distinnguished characteristic was that he was an outright crook with a crooked political history from his early days. He became a Texas senator through a fraudilent election and then became Keendy's Deputy President to get the southern democrats to vote for the pair. If you wanted anything the envelope full of cash was to be handed over when poeple was not looking. Not a good one and lasted until 1968.
Was followed by Richard "would you buy a second hand car from this man" Nixon. A petty politician inherited the Vietnam War and then ended it ingloriously. Pettiness led to the Watergate Scandal and his ultimate resignation. Was followed by Ford - a rather weak politician who could not last.
Then followed Carter - the most liberal of American presidents since WW2. Like most theoretical liberals he made a mess of foreign policy - the world just put the finger up to such politicians - and the Iranian crisis was the result. Got rid of the Shah and inherited the Ayatollah. What a trade-off - the man was a fool.
Reagan was probably the best President the US had since WW2. A kind man with strong principles and a person who was - together with Thatcher and Kohl - prepared to take on the Soviet Regime in the economic field. The October Revolution in 1917 was funded by American sources and the succeding dictaorship was kept afloat by western financial resources. When that source was cut off the Communist Regime started to fray at the edges and the end came sooner than anybody ever expected.
Bush was the next president and was noted for the first Iraq war - oil became the dominant foreign policy issue. After supporting Hussain for years against Iraq and over-looking all his atrocities provided he continues his war against the Iranians - he suddenly became persono non grata when eh invaded Kuwait. So get rid of the nuisance. However - he was wiser than his son - since he knew when to end the War.
Clinton "I did not have sex with that woman" was the next President. The phase ementioned was the min feature of that one's presidency. Was too busy fighting to keep afloat to do anything else.
George W Bush was a mess. He did precisely nothing until the World Trade Center saga and then woke up to the fact that it is a dangerous world out there. Then followed the Afghanistan War - which was unwinable. But Afghanistan does not have oil and Iraq has - so heaping lie after lie - and without any thought as to the future - the seond Iraq War followed. That is where we are today - with the Middle East in chaos and ISIS being a very real threat.
So now we have Obama - who will go down in history as the same as Carter - a weak preident and one who is being ridiculed by the crazy people of the world. Are we ever going to find peace in the ME - my guess is never.
Since WW2 the rating on my scale of competence is as follows:-
* Top US President - Ronald Reagan* Good President - Dwight Eisenhower* Iffy President - Kennedy* Biggest Crook - Lyndon B Johnson* Seond biggest crook - George W Bush* Petty vindictive Politician - Nixon* Weaklings - Carter and Obama* Nondescrpit - Ford and Bush (senior)
And that from the World s most powerful person.
