Here we go, a rather splendid demonstration of JJ being dominated... repeatedly! Interestingly it's in the same game you referenced his great attacking qualities, so this must have been in mind, surely.

Well Williams bounced him like a popsie ....it was interesting to see how Jean sorted Williams a bit later. Case closed?

Just as I suspected what a load of rubbish.......one would swear Williams runs straight through JJ.......Williams steps well and takes JJ off balance.

Funny how a few minutes earlier the great hit and drive back by JJ is conveniently missed by you lot.......so much for this shit that JJ always goes high.

Sun seems to just blatantly lie about the JJ repeatedly being bounced.......when he was never bounced at all other than taken off balance by a step.

Sounds much like the shit we heard regarding Conrad Smith missing 100% of his tackles - just a blatant lie

Rubbish he runs over the top of him....he was bounced. Was he on the ground on his back while Williams powered forward. Yep....that meets my definition of being bounced.
It highlights JJ's chronic problem of tackling above the waist, and being knocked back. Another classic example was de Jongh powering through him in the S15, which was only snuffed out because Ndungane intervened allowing JJ to come back and help stop the Stormers centre.

Absolute rubbish.......are you saying Williams does not step inside him, throwing JJ off balance?

Talk me through JJ's great hit a few minutes earlier.......gone all quiet on that one?

JJ was so off balance he was struggling to get up off the ground  . Must have been a dizzy spell and not the massive impact of Williams shoulder in the middle of his chest that was giving him the wobblies.
He did give it back a couple times though.

Yep he caught him off balance nicely, with that step.........its rugby.......funny how JJ's great hit is conveniently missed........much like his better defensive stats than Jean against Oz and NZ in 4 tests last year.

There is no issue with JJ's defence at all, it's all a load of rubbish......which he will prove in the S15........I'll be sure not to miss a single minute for I am going to enjoy rubbing the noses of his detractors........there will be no hiding from the facts

He caught him off balance......waaaaaahahaha. He knocked him off balance you mean. Every time your man blows it, there is always an excuse.
You are right that he made one good hit...one of the few times he went low and powered up. The trouble is his reflex tackle is always to go above the waist.

Moz you are speaking complete crap.......JJ goes low and drives a player on his back a few moments earlier in the clip.......what is that exactly?

de Jongh powering through JJ........you are starting to sound like Mike.......that is simply not the truth......de Jongh could not power through anyone.......de Jongh half steps JJ only for JJ to haul him in with ease seconds later.

What of JJ knocking Conrad Smith out in the S15 and then running straight through him in that last test?

Man I read some shit at times and to think people think they can get away with it.......de Jongh powering through JJ is a joke and far, far from the truth........come on Moz keep it real man.........you are not Mike

He went through JJ at least 3 times in the match....once with a step and twice he powered through his tackle.
Conrad smith knocked himself out by getting his head on the wrong side and connecting JJs hip....are you trying to tell us JJ did that?

I know of a certain chap who made the ridiculous claim that JJ was dragged five meters by de Jongh every time JJ tackled him.   When it was statistically proven to be a lie - it was not accepted and is still repeatedly used despite the fact that proven to be a lie.

De Jongh's stats for that match was as follows:-

de Jongh 0/0 0 2/0/6 21 0 1 0 0 7/2 0/0 0 0/0

Now lets analyse that statement again.   De Jongh had 6 ball carries - one of which represented a gain in territory of circa 12 meters where he beat one defender (JJ).  The other five times his territory gain was less than 2 meters each - so how he dragged JJ five meters every time was statistically impossible and the normal deception by that member.  De Jongh did not power through JJ like it is falsely claimed by the member - but what is clear is that our resident Herr Goebbels is at it again - repeat a lie often enough and it may become accepted as the truth.

Unfortunately I have been unable to get the video for the game...but two incidents stand out from memory. De Jongh beats JJ up the left touchline and is only stopped because Ndungane intervenes. De Jongh smacks into JJ 2 metres outside his 22 and is only brought down inside the 22.Probably 10 m for the first break and nearly 5 for the second near break.

Here are JJs stats to put next to de Jongh, you will notice he misses 4 tackles in 9....most of which were on de Jongh I'm guessing. The fact is he never made one clean tackle on the Stormers centre....he needed help almost every time:

de Jongh0/002/0/62101007/20/000/0

Herr Goebbels

I had the stats and saw what happened during that game.   Your statement was clear and is now being watered down.   You said that De Jongh dragged Engelbrecht five meters every time he attempted to tackle him.  I referred to the case of the missed tackle where De Jongh did make about 12 meters in total 0 the other cases were a figment of your imagination.  What you say now is vastly different from what you said previously.

By the way - I have doubts about Engelbtecht's defence as well - but I do not use deception to prove how good other players are - such was the case here - and how bad JJ is.   I agree his tackling in this game was poor - but I five exact examples of where he failed -- I do not manufacture examples and put a twist to it through deception.

Stick to facts and not deception and everything will be fine.

Just a pity you published de Jongh's stats, without showing JJ for context hey? Another typical lie by ommission Clever. De Jongh did drag JJ every time he didn't beat him outright.....for approaching 5 metres on at least two occasions. JJ never stopped him cleanly once and a second ttackler was usually needed to complete the tackle.

Initially your comment was not on the issue of the defence of JJ - it was  the fact that previously you mentioned that every time JJ endeavoured tackling De Jongh dragged him five meters.  I published De Jongh's stats to prove that it was impossible - now you have it down to twice, which is also virtually impossible taking into account the fact that De Jongh handled the ball only 6 times - once gaining about 12 meters - leaving him 9 meters for the other 5 times.   Beating him JJ happened only once and De Jongh only broke one tackle.

Still very farfetched and extremely prejudicial.   Stick to the facts and you will find I support you in dealing with Engelbrecht's defensive deficiencies.

Sun-Tzu, a more appropriate question 1st up will be, "Name an occasion where Saffex has made a call that has stuck!" Another way of phrasing that, "Name a single occasion where the prick has been right!"
You will not find one. Remember, we are talking about the oke who said JJ had cemented his place when he was in fact dropped. He said Jantjies should be in the Bok squad. He said Jean De Villiers and Bryan Habana should not make the Bok team but then mentions guys like Mnisi and Volmink as being options. This clown clearly has his head up his arse!

This is perfectly conclusive, but the excuses spew forth with abandon I'm tempted to rename this thread 'The Great Deluge'. Lets ask ourselves this one question: Were Morné or Kirchner to be thumped back so effortlessly, would he be excused? It's just as the fans were saying earlier last year, "Willie is making plenty of mistakes, but they are good mistakes because some of them are good". It's that mentality of relativism that is the clog in the brains of too many people hence why they can strive to learn but can never arrive at any understanding of truth. JJ got bounced, JJ has been a bouncer all along.

@Michael: You are about to learn a very harsh lesson on how to properly interpret statistics. Just wait a little while longer...

@Boklogic : Unlike Saffex, I will refrain from labeling him stupid. He does know rugby well enough to know better, but I suspect he becomes to infatuated with players at youth level and his opinion is unbreakable once they are at senior level. That appears to be his big stumbling block right now. Haven't you noticed that most of the players he calls great are kids? Those big long lists of unproven players amongst the never-will-bes.

Absolute hogwash.......funny just because JJ knocks Conrad Smith out, by running straight through him......its not JJ but Conrad Smith who knocks himself out......what a bloody joke......the hypocrisy stinks........much like the joke that de Jongh powered through JJ.......when in fact he stepped him and that is a fact.

As for the Williams bounce........the FACT is that Williams steps JJ, throws him off balance and bounced him because he gets him off balance......if you cant acknowledge that, you are lying. Williams does NOT target JJ straight on and run through him as some of you want us to believe.......it is utter rubbish.......much like Williams beating JJ 3 times......absolute rubbish

N onsense, Williams charged into him and he was gone. It would have made little difference what angle the contact was made seeing that Williams is considerably more physical anyway. JJ has the upper body of a ten year old boy - it#'s quite embarrassing really, especially for a centre and we know how much you advocate big centres. But you seem to have it back-to-front on this one. If that contact was made head-on I'm certain that JJ would have been broken. Heck, I'm not a professional athlete and even I could knock JJ backwards! I also loved Mornés big hit on that Samoa after the Habana hospital pass, monstrous. Once the video comes out, the facade comes crashing down at every turn.

Not from me. I'm not prejudiced, I even readjusted my stance on Taute. That in spite of his errors viz his errors against New Zealand. There simply isn't anything special about this wing as a 13. Even as a wing, I doubt he is anything special whatsoever.

If you are saying that Williams ran straight into JJ without a step throwing JJ off balance then you are lying or you have issues with your eyesight.

I've said this a few times.......JJ is the best 13 prospect we have had since readmission........he has more attacking clout than any of Snyman, Fleck, Mulder, Joubert or Fourie........he showed that in that last test against NZ.

He has had to adjust defensively from wing to centre and his defensive stats improved throughout the year, culminating in his defensive stats being better than Jean's in the 4 tests against NZ and Oz.........Taute is an option at 13, certainly far better than de Jongh........but he does not have the speed that sets JJ apart.

JJ's performance at 13 added a new attacking dimension to 13 play......you just cant beat the pace and feet he brings to the role.

I know the topic deals with the Samoan match - but in that match S loth Alberts missed two tackles - resulting in Samoan tries. - Why concentrate on Engelbrecht when more real bugger ups were made by Sloth?

If you interpret Stats differently - what and how do you d that?   Would love to see the joke - so please don't threaten - just tell me what it is you do to arrive at different results.

Stats are useful and send a lot of false statements into orbit - and it really confirms the real situation.

JJ's "knockout" of Conrad Smith was 100% Smith's own fault. Nothing that JJ has done.

Smith gets his head on the wrong side and knocks himself out. JJ leans a bit into the tackle, but it's the position of Smith's head that's the problem. That could have been Nokwe carrying the ball, the result would have been the same, but this little myth has been one of the major props under the wobbly JJ edifice.

Of more relevance the Bulls actually have space outside, but JJ takes on the tackle and turns into the cover. A more aware centre should have given the Bools a scoring chance.

It's the problem with wing converts, they don't know when to pass or how to create space. Not their fault however, they are finishers by nature afterall, but the point remains; never convert wings to centres. It just doesn't work. Note JJ doesn't have adequate distribution skills anyway. Wings as centres is a very well weakness of South African rugby.

This time  I agree with you - wings are in general notoriously poor in ball handling/passing.   However, you may be able to help out here,   I did not know whether De Jongh ever played at wing.   His ball handling skills are macabre - if he did not move from wing to center - he must have developed that deficiency while playing at center..

What utter crap, had Conrad not been knocked out, JJ still would have bashed him out the way.

Sun stop speaking crap re JJ's distribution skills.......JJ has good hands for a 13........look no further than his pass off his wrong hand to Willie after his classic beating of Savea........it was a brilliant pin point long pass off his wrong hand.

You really do make this shit up
