To puppet at Leinster - what’s the point? Explained how Jacques Nienaber managed to get away with being on the sideline .. What a cracking Champions Cup final we had on Saturday between both Leinster and Toulouse at a full house at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London. During the Champions Cup final between Leinster and Toulouse, Nienaber was spotted running water for the Irish side. Match officials approached the Jacques to discuss whether he was allowed to perform the water carrier duties. Nienaber’s official title at Leinster is senior coach, with Leo Cullen being the team’s head coach. His title means that he is, in fact, allowed to carry water carrier for his side. That’s straight out of the Rassie playbook .. Got to respect the grid .. It’s a big ask for Leinster to comeback from this, they have to take on Connacht this Friday night .. Only a six day turnaround since that massve disappointment

Well Rassie has also carried the water so that he can sneak instructions….so Nienhaber is doing the same….that does not make him a Puppet.

Without Nienhaber,s input, the Boks definitely are not where they are now! He played the leading role in developing and implementing our Defence systems. He did quite well being our HC for his first Outing….so calling him a puppet is just a cheap shot.

I do not think that Nienaber was a puppet.   He was trained through many years of association unde Erasmus as a good coach  on his own - but he  lacked the assurance and communication Erasmus had when it came to pl.ayers.    For most of the years since 2019 - Erasmus was the Director of Rugby and Nienaber the Head Coach - yet communication between the playes during  and outside of  the time Erasmus had suposedly no coaching riole and he was free to carry water bottles to the playes during games.   

Erasmus was mostly the planner and communicator - while Nienaber dealt with specific issues relating to for instance defense.   In a way their can be no doubt that Nienaber learned all he knows about oaching  from Erasmus.    As such he will do a ood job in the case of Leinster carying water bottles or not.   

It seems that the emphasis of the Springboks changed and with the appointment of Brown that would make a difference,

Power wake up man this is not about waterboys it’s about who the head coach is, which is clearly not Neinaber So my question is, why the fuck did he leave the Boks as the token head coach to become the assistant coach at Leinster - it’s clearly a step backwards I’m not convinced there is much real substance in him as an actual coach. He is big on stats but comes with no rugby playing experience and not a guy that commands a lot of rugby respect I can’t take him seriously

Nienaber  head coach WC record….6/1….same win ratio as ErasmusWC record. Nienaber as head coach regular test record 21/10…68%. Better. So if we exclude 2021 and 2022 when Nienaber was the putative coach, Eluckmiss is 16 and  9 or 64%. Not as good as Nienaber.

So who is the puppet? We only know for sure in the games Eluckmiss wasn’t there. And in those games Nienaber was better than Eluckmiss/Nienaber.

Bullshit Moz it’s fucking insulting trying to tell us Neinaber is better than Rassie - the guy now sitting as assistant coach of Leinster If he had any clout he would be the head coach of another nation, failing that at least the head coach of a reputable club/provincial side. But instead we have him sitting with Leinster as a nobody Neinaber is a complete puppet - he obviously adds value in some respect but what is clear is he is not a head coaches backside He has never been the head coach of any side, even when Rassie was banned, Rassie was still pulling the strings - difference being he had no physical contact with his team when it mattered and it showed Show me the Neinaber as head coach record when Rassie was not allowed to be physically present

I am guided by the numbers Dave…the numbers say in non WC years Nienaber did better than Eluckmiss. In WC years they had the same record when they were the head coach. But both were involved in both years…so hard to separate.

And seriously Dave after telling us for years Erasmus had no culpability because he wasn’t there…you are now telling us when Nienaber beat NZ 31 to 29 in Australia…he was pulling the strings.

The fact is we don’t know how important Nienaber is in making Eluckmiss functional. My guess is, more important than the groupies think,

No Moz I said Rassie was still involved when he was banned but not physically there with side which is a big negative So his absence physically had a negative impact on the performance of the side. I recall this fact in our results at the time. I’m sure Neinaber added some kind of value for he and Rassie have worked together since day one - but he is a subordinate and that shows in his new role with Leinster You don’t go from being the Bok head coach to being the assistant coach of Leinster if you are the real deal Neinaber has never come across with any form of rugby authority and his position at Leinster confirms this Watching Chasing the Sun 2, Felix Jones looks like he will be more of a loss than Neinaber will be but that’s just my observation

They were a team throughout. And I’m sure all the selections were dominated by the Genius. How he will function without Nienaber remains to be seen. Who knows perhaps the new coaches will convince him to offload. All we know is Nienaber by himself delivered as well and statistically better
