T20 is the equivalent of 7's Rugby, so yes, these kind of upsets do happen in rugby. Still nice when it does. Point of interest. The Dutch managed to beat us in an ODI way back in 1999 I think. It was a friendly playd on a rug though. Most of our lads wouldn't have plaid on a rug since primary school though. Still it stands in the history of cricket. Funny old game.

T20 is like Sevens Rugby but what is so amazing is that England toppled Sri Lanka on Thursday...WC Rugby Union has it's upsets too...France going down to Tonga and then coming short of 1 point against NZ in the final. Incidently Tonga lost to Romania this year and Ireland had a very close shave against Georgia back in 2007.
Some incredible event is bound to happen one day...life is like that...things do go awol sometimes.

That was a bad loss for the English - but the NZ loss against SriLanka was even worse. The difference perhaps was that the English was bragging they are going to wibn the trophy and where did they end up? NZ took their chances and progressed further than the English. At least they had a small chance of going through to the semis today by beating Sri Lanka, but they were way out of their depth in that case.
So the semi-finals will be as follows:-
* SriLanka to play either Pakistan or the West Indies* South Africa to play India.
India does not travel well, but the pitches in BanglaDesh will be more to their liking and it is going to be a very hard battle between SA and India. In the end with luck it may be SA - after all they managed to post the highest score by any team in the competition thus far (196 runs).
However, the semis are in Dhaka and the Indians have played all their games there - while SA played theirs in Chittagong.
So the semi-finals will be as follows:-

I remember in 84 ? when the Sri Lankan cap gave himself out of the bowling of a very spiteful spell from Lillee ,umpire said "your right mate .not out !" Sri Lankan says "You are very much mistaken sir I am most definately out ! " the Aussies had a whip around that year to scrounge some kit for an impoverished Sri Lankan team !

Please, getting thrashed by Sri Lanka, a team with genuine cricketing pedigree in all 3 forms of the game, is nowhere near as bad as losing to the Netherlands (by any margin).

Highly funny considering the BBC the day before were having a go at the lacklustre aussie's performance... lol... silly poms thought 5-Nil in the Ashes would have taught them a lesson....

re Aussies and 20/20 - shame but busy scheduling and I thought their test players just looked overly tired...
beating the poms and saffas consecutively will do that to a team....
