New beginnings

Like most of us I didn't see the result coming in this game but the signs have been there for a long time. 
The Boks are simply lacking in skills. Our handling and technique in many areas have been covered up for years by being able to bully teams by picking huge men. Advances in player conditioning have meant that teams have been able to close this power gap and when they can match us physically we are in trouble. 
I don't blame Mayer particularly for this. It seems to be a mindset throughout Saffa rugby. Size is good, and will win out against all else. We need to look at how we educate our players, what skills we emphasize and what our focuses are. Catching passing and manipulating space should be second nature. 
This changing of mindset might take time to show results but I believe if we continue with the current system we shall be left behind and have to endure some dark periods.
