New rugby rules confirmed

Haven't seen any mention of this on here and don't take it as gospel as i read it on another sports forum

World Rugby confirms the 20-min red card will be implemented across the global game, as well as 7 other changes coming:

??60 conversion shot-clock
?? 30-second scrum and lineout limit, managed by the referee
?? Marking inside the 22m line from a restart
?? Single-stop mauls: The ball must be played after one stoppage in a maul
?? Play-on un-straight line outs when uncontested
?? Protection of the scrum-half at scrums, rucks and mauls.
?? Television Match Official (TMO) protocol, empowering officials to spot clear infringements in the final phases before scoring.
?? A red-carded player can be replaced with another player after 20 minutes

Subject to approval, World Rugby will work to finalise the timeline and processes for adoption at a global level from 1 January.

Can't imagine you boys will be thrilled with the new maul ruling

I'm down with the maul rule. Keep it moving or get it out.

I thought this was already the case.

This may work well. It may force teams to get the bind, hit, and set the scrum before pushing.
It may create less shenanigans and trickery. It could favour stronger scrummagers, and prevent them from being outfoxed. 

?? Marking inside the 22m line from a restart
This could make sense to ensure kicks are short to the forwards, instead of over them.
Sometimes teams try to do long kicks for a territory game, but the opposition nearly always fields the kick under no pressure and passes to a kicker to set up a lineout. It becomes a pointless passage of play. 

?? Single-stop mauls: The ball must be played after one stoppage in a maul
This could have a negative impact on SA, who sometimes stop mauls- and then change the line.

?? Play-on un-straight line outs when uncontested
This makes sense - I thought it was already the case.

?? Protection of the scrum-half at scrums, rucks and mauls.
This might suit bigger scrumhalfs that are not as quick at digging the ball out and clearing.

I thought this was already the case, even if it is not consistently applied.

This should be an improvement. 

The maul rule always was  problematic and the change will clarify the situation.   The quesion always was ending and when is the ball to be released to be carried further by a player whether it be a forward or backline player.    The reeree should shout release ball - whuch must be carried out within 10 seconds ir id that fails a scrums should be formed with the feeding of the scrum being allocated to the defending team.   

As to th red card offences - it would be a rational approach 0 he offende should never be allowed back on the field until a proper ivestigations.    Two yellow card offences  should never lead to automatic conversion to a red card,    U think that issue should be reciied and in such a case the normal yellow card offender should be allowed back on the field after his second offence afer his being off for 10 minutes, 

Have no problem with the rest of he new r ules,
