Truly awful, I feel so sorry for their fans.  That franchise turns good players into mediocre players at the blink of an eye.  Anyone still think Beauden Barrett is one of the best first five's in the world?

 Hammett is the worst and dumbest coach in the world assisted by the equally smart Iremia. I totally agree with your statement Poi-e. Hammett goes or the fans go.
The other issue is Perenara - smiling and carrying on with the Brumbies when he should be putting his foot on throat when the Hurricanes were leading.
Suddenly they try opening up with only 3minutes to go when they spent 77minutes doing the box kick and giving away possession to the opposition - and to persist with this dumb option after half time was beyond dumb. HAMMETT

It looks like Hammet's coaching them to play a Crusaders pattern of rugby, they don't have the personnel nor the compatible mindset for that style, Tana will be coaching the Hurricanes in 2015.

 ...Yep Beauden Barret is unquestionably one of the best first fives in world rugby ...and hammet is unquestionably one of the worst coaches in world rugby...

...Tana would be awesome and have a much better repoire with the players ...look what he's achieved with Counties...

..If there is an upside to the Canes loss is that the result is more nails in Hammet's coffin and he's another game closer to being given the boot...

 cannot agree more with that statement Brycy - I was fuming with all the box kicking going on - especially when you have the most dangerous backs in RWC in your backline and you kick away position to the opposition.
The pre match interviews were telling - they actually lost the game before they even started with talks around containing the Brumbies - FORGET about "containing" the Brumbies - how about you start playing footy yourselves. HAMMETT

Play to your strengths. I thought they got it right against the Sharks, so I'm a little baffled by this showing. Perhaps I should send Hammett a copy of my book.

Team instructions I would imagine Cloudy. If you break from the script you can do more harm than good anyway, particularly if you try to instigate a run and nobody is on the same page. Overall, the coaches lost the tactical battle. Why? Because the Brumbies psychologically over-powered the Canes playing philosophy and forced them to change. Once you do that you are always on the back foot. I personally don't think the Brumbies are as imposing as they were under Jake, o I personally would have had a crack, especially after that showing ag ainst the Sharks.

dont send suntzus book to hammet, send furio from sopranos to break hammets legs.
hammet is a grade A fuckwit and the sooner he fucks off back to christchurchn the better.

all this bullshit talk about culture is the biggest load of crap ive ever heard.
hammet has tried to change the hurricanes culture into something similar to the crusaders .
its not possible to change a culture so drastically like that, and all the time in the world isnt going to help.

hurricanes rugby in the past under cooper saw them a real force who would any team on their day and even the crusaders would have a few sleepless nights.
hurricanes never won anything in the past, but i always enjoyed watching thier games and while i had disappointing moments, disappointments is now the only thing the hurricanes deliever thanks to hammet.

only time i would only ever dare feel comfortable about hurricanes winning a match, is if they were to play either the force or lions, everyone else i just exepct hammets hurricanes to lose.

i wonder how stupid gothenaki who was always prohammet feels right about now, we had plenty of debates about hammets worth, and now hammet is leading the hurricanes to their worst finals drought ever and im not able to shove it down his face.
of course u cant trust those taranaki turncoats, jumping chip from the hurricanes to be a apart of the chiefs??? o_O
im gald theyere gone, and parttime sharkbok would completely understand their shifting loyalties.

 I can't blame the Naki to be honest, poor player recruitment, poor management, poor crowds and little influence to change things, I wouldn't begrudge any franchise to look for a better option.  I wonder how silly Hammet felt watching Cardiff Vaenga leaking tries and generally having a shitty match knowing he could've had one of the world's premiere 2nd 5's in his squad hungry to prove himself...

@poi-e,

betcha nothing will change  in taranaki now that theyre with the chiefs.
except there wont be anymore games in taranaki courtesy the hurricanes.

but i dont blame them for leaving, hammet has that effect on everything, and once hammet is gone and umaga comes to restablish the real hurricanes culture, hurricanes will be a million times better off without hammet and taranaki.

cardiff vaega had a crap game, but the dude is all class, u only have to watch southlands ITM games last year to know this, where vaega was one of the best centers in the comp.

while its not an excuse for vaegas poor performance, he is more of a 13 than a 12, so i wonder why hammet didnt play him at 13 and move conrad to 12???
he was willing to accommodate alapati leiua at 13 by doing that.

and hammet dosent want nonu at all in his squad, hammet has zero people management skills, hwich a matching set with his rugby coaching abilities.

 Really?  I've never seen Conrad playing 12??  And I certainly wouldn't shift the world's best centre to 12 to accommodate someone who had a couple of good ITM cup games. Vaenga looked out of his depth defensively last night, probably due in no small part to being out of position, but be that as I may I honestly believe that Tana is only man that can resurrect that franchise.
As an aside I'm really surprised to the old boys club in the NZ Coaching system at the moment, Hammet, Blackadder, Joseph, Kirwan not to mention the asst coaches (Mauger, Matson, Tony Brown, Iremia), its no real surprise that the Chiefs are achieving with two coaches that have done their time.
Some of these coaches are getting gigs with very few credentials to back it up, and in Hammets case are given licence to make big franchise affecting decisions, bit silly in my opinion.

@poie,

conrad was playing 12 last night when cardiff vaega got subbed for alapati leiua who played at 13 .

and i agree, umaga is the only man who can resurrect the hurricnaes, i only hope hes coach before nonu is gone from NZ rugby, cos tana will show cockhead hammet how to get the best from nonu.

NZ boys club isnt too far from he truth, but dave rennie had done as much as the others before he was coach of the chiefs, so i dont think its the whole boys club per say, but more some pl,ayers justa arent good coaches, and slackbladder, JK and hammet are not good coaches.

crusaders nedd wayne smith to come back and should mountains to get himn, he started the crusaders dynasty and hes the only one i know who can restore the crusaders back to their former glory.

 Not really, Dave Rennie had coached Wellington, Manawatu and also a couple of campaigns with the NZ under 20's

 And you're right Conrad did shift to 12 last night, that in itself is a piss weak indictment on the Canes coaching team.

 Umaga for Canes coach - time to start the campaign boys, lol

But seriously they wont' get rid of Hammond any time soon so it's a grin & bear it situation... or maybe... well I was never into constant griping.

Let's hope the Canes show some brilliant play even of they don't win many games. Historically they have been fun to watch.

 There are astute coaches from NZ that are coaching overseas and some do not even have a job YET we have these very ordinary pretend coaches namely Sir JK, Todd Blackadder and Hammett who have poor communication and poor man management skills, poor off-season selections, poor intelligence on opposition Teams, who continously play people out of position, pigheaded and obstinate about decisions that went wrong instead of admitting that they were wrong in the first instance (Cases in point, Hammetts handling of Nonu, Hore and Cruden who is now thriving at the Chiefs, Sir JKs handling of Anscombe who went on to win a title with the Chiefs).
Jamie Joseph does not fit into the above category because he was successful as the NZ Maoris Team Coach,

 Well JK's a little different Hakwa, I think he's got great man management skills, the word on the street is that Anscombe was not contracted on the back of a strong recommendation from Ma'a Nonu who JK was looking to build a back line around....Ma'a then upped sticks to the Highlanders...

@poie,

i think JK is over rated as a coach and his player management skills was always kak, even more so if that story about nonu is true.

jks player selections and tactics against certain teams have been off. and IMO decent wins against the crusaders the week and other top teams since JK took over have been more cos of the talent which does reside ion the blues, more than anything that the coaches did.

dave rennie and wayne smith are not only the best coaches in NZ, but best coaches in the spXV, and im convinced that the rennie/smith combo needs to be split up, time for smith to go back home to chch and time for umaga to rehurricanize the mighty mighty hurricanes.

 Hurricanes fans are calling for Hammetts head - Iremia is trying to stick up for his mate but there has been no evidence over the past 4seasons that these 2 are not out of their depth. Really sad for the Hurricanes Franchise.
