A debut century from Kane Williamson, the last 30 runs scored with a runner after he was injured, wasn't enough to stop Bangladesh securing a third consecutive one-day cricket victory over New Zealand today.

The 20-year-old Williamson, who became the youngest New Zealander to score a one-day international century, was the last man out in the 50th over as Bangladesh won today's match at Dhaka by nine runs.

A Shakib al Hasan century helped Bangladesh to a total of 241 batting first. Debutant Hamish Bennett was New Zealand's top wicket-taker with figures of 3-44.

In reply New Zealand lost quick wickets and were five down for 80 when captain Daniel Vettori went out.

Williamson, batting at five, and Grant Elliott gave New Zealand some chance, though an injury shortly after Elliott was out meant Ross Taylor had to run for him.

A 53-run partnership between Williamson and Nathan McCullum gave the Black Caps some chance with two overs to play.

But McCullum and Daryl Tuffey were then out in consecutive balls, and Williamson was caught on the boundary with four balls remaining.

Vettori said Bangladesh had outplayed New Zealand but they were encouraged by Williamson's knock.

"He showed a lot of us how to bat in these conditions," Vettori said.

The win gives Bangladesh an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five match series.

Stunned South Africa must defeat hosts Zimbabwe to reach the non-cap Twenty20 tri-nations tournament final at Harare Sports Club after losing by three wickets to Bangladesh.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat, then lost wickets at regular intervals en route to 7-129 off 20 overs as they sought to put a shock loss by Zimbabwe two days ago behind them.

Bangladesh tossed away several wickets through reckless shots and needed 19.5 overs to reach 7-132 and claim a second win in as many days after losing their first two games.

Zimbabwe and Bangladesh have eight points each and South Africa four in an unofficial tournament designed to prepare the three countries for the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka during September and October.

Victory for South Africa over Zimbabwe would mean the three teams finishing level on points and net run rates deciding which two advance to the Sunday climax of a drama-filled tournament South Africa were expected to dominate.

"I am very happy with our spin and seam bowlers for doing a superb job again," said Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim. "Chasing the total was not easy on a tough wicket but we got there."

South African captain Hashim Amla said: "I am very disappointed because I believed 129 was a defendable total. Our match with Zimbabwe has become a big one and I am hoping for a better showing all round."

South Africa never built batting momentum with only Justin Ontong (41) and Farhaan Behardien (16) spending a reasonable amount of time in the middle, but they scored slowly against an attack in which Elias Sunny (2-22) did best.

Bangladesh scored more quickly, but the loss of leading scorer Mohammad Ashraful (40) after 12.2 overs while trying to slam the ball over mid-on made life more anxious than it should have been for the tail.

Excellent final-over bowling by Chris Morris left Bangladesh needing two runs from the last two balls for victory and Ziaur Rahman rose to the occasion by latching on to a wide full toss and cracking it for four on the off side

OK. Let me help you out. You start a thread about Venezuala beating South Africa in a low profile dsicipline like soft ball. Your sole intention was clearly the old forum practice of throwing out something to cause crap. I only returned the favour and I caught you at your own game. On top of it, you failed because I qouted an article where NZ lost an entire series to Bangladesh, as opposed to your return with SA losing a single match during a series. Slight different I suppose. Why didn't you try a comeback about NZ losing to New Caledonia at football?

Case closed. You can carry on with the simple little game on your own if you want to. Or see if you can find someone else to play with. I only did it to show you that you were actually the clown with your thread about the softball game.
