I think the boks are playing really well but new zealand are not australia or argentina. aussies looking piss poor like in 2005. they cant attack, cant scrum, sub par in lineout, no tactical boot, no pack power and too many egos in the three amigos. but new zealand actually can attack, have physicality, have a scrum, are better on the ground, have speed and tactical boot. I think what the boks did to australia could not happen against new zealand so the boks will have to step up higher to find a way to beat them. good thig that cheating scum bag mckak is out but read is the real hero anyways. i hope you guys can sock it to them but i just dont see where its going to happen. on the plus side willie on the wing has given you guys so much more bite, when you can shift the ball from one side to the other and use both wings on attack its sooooo much more flexible. willie is the man that pieteren never really became but promised to be. so much is going to depend on your loosies though. still doubts over your locks. i would start with strauss because he is more versatile as a ball carrier, way more effective and links well. he doesnt have any weaknesses so that will give you guys more firepower. duane and louw need big games here to really cement their status but i have been very impressed with duane this year. anyhow, goodluck bokke, you defied the odds last week so heres hoping you slience the kiwi bird brains.

Not going to predict this one but hope ABs win this one,  however spoke to my bro in NZ who said the feel around NZ is like the old days when there were few tests between the 2,  & there is an anticipation of a titanic battle as use to be the case, primarily because of the way the Boks are playing at the moment, whichever way it goes here's hoping for a games that measures up to anticipation.

A lot of the bok losses have only really been by a few points over the years. i think in 2003 in new zealand, after thumping the boks in their worest season at home they really did nearly beat new zealand in kiwi land. so i think there needs to be more respect in general. just a couple of boofheads let them down like the 2001-2003 coaches and the kiwi cheating in 2010 onwards going to the most ridiculous level. as a neutral i just hope for a fair game. it was pretty sad seeing the greatest day in irish history being stolen by crooked reffing last year in the second test between them. it ruins the game. in a fair game the boks are never really easy, but they need to fight the ref and then win the breakdown battle. EVERYTHING comes down to the breakdown when you play new zealand. if the boks can win that battle then the blacks are pretty much helpless.

Stating the obvious Ihi? All teams struggle if they don't win the breakdown!!

The difference with the ABs is that they can still win a game with relatively little ball.

Ah here, this thread looks and sounds like a Kiwi fan conference. But on a serious note, I think the ABs forwards will struggle come scrum time. That was evident in the matches against the Wobbles and the Argies. This match won't be for the faint hearted, both teams have a point to prove. I think the Boks 'the under dogs' will win this one by 9 points

 The breakdown will be key.

When the Springboks do well at the breakdown our strong ball carriers can dominate the advantage line and the collisions and create good go forward ball and put the All Blacks defence under pressure.

NewZealand are good at interpreting how different refs see the breakdown laws.

Like John Mitchell recently stated it is contentious how the Allblacks seem to get away with more at the breakdown, but on the other hand they do stay on their feet for longer than other teams.

When things go wrong at the breakdown it is a hard day at the office for the Boks even against the likes of Scotland etc.

ntanga your right this match is not for the faint hearted, but disagree on your point about the scrum. The Boks struggled against the Argies scrum and were dominated physically in their last match and were lucky to get a win, the AB's don't view the scrum as the end all to be all in test matches, they don't dominate scrums and a lot of time have inferior time in possession but its what they do with what they have that wins them games, if the AB's gain at least parity it could be a long day at the office for the Boks however the pendulum could swing the other way as well.

The kiwi bird brain must realise that if the Boks play to thwr potential and if we have a fair ref they are going dooooooooooooown.

A huge bubble could in these circumstances burst - and about time as these pretenders are far to uppity. Who here will be able to then console rooitwit!

@ Poly, I agree with you the Argies gave us a problem in the scrums, especially after we brought in our impact lads. The Argies front row can hold their own. The ABs scrum struggled against both the Wobbles @ times whom we dominated convincingly, as well as the Argies who gave us a lesson or two in their own backyard. I've seen teams lose matches because of poor scrimmaging. It can be used as a platform from which a team could launch an attack. A lack of solid scrimmaging is psychological disadvantage for the team that's been out muscled upfront., it becomes a psychological battle, and very few teams are able to reverse the situation and come up on top. P.S. History tells us that Eden Park is a graveyard for many past great teams; however, this new Bok team is no respecter of history at all, the Wobbles learnt this the hard way last Saturday.

bok rugby looks dangerous, to dangerous. All Blacks don't like it. They have been chugging away almost undercover. AB rugby has been watching the SA getting win after win. It hasn't been unnoticed. They are now becoming a threat to the AB ranking. That is far enough. AB must sort this team out now or it will haunt them for the next few years and right threw the next RWC. Must be dealt with NOW and it must end immediately. With no remorse or hesitation. This will bite the AB in the ass if this is not sorted.

I was watching the Re-Union programme and the survey done by them. The outcome was that nearly 50% of the contributors are very nervous about the outcome of the test on Saturday. 35% are certain the AB,s will win - while 16% are absolutely sure of a Springbok win. We will see what happens on Saturday - but the nervousness of the NZ supporters is in evidence - and that showed through clearly in the survey. I am not sure about the outcome - but believes that whatever happens - no side will score a runaway win - it is going to be a very close tussle that can go either way.

ntanga I take your point with the perceived need of the scrum being an attacking launching pad but the fact that you say the AB struggled against both Wallabies and Argies yet still win convincingly contradicts all that. Also if there is one area where the AB's don't seem to have a problem its psychologically, they may not have a world class scrum at moment but they have other weapons to counter this.

Clevermike, interestingly read in NZ Herald that betting at TAB in NZ was on Boks to win.

@moola

every team has certain things you have to do to beat them. the boks never really dominate the breakdown in nearly all of their games but can win without the ball or possession. you need to blunt their set pieces and deal with the high ball. with australia traditionally you had to work your ass off supporting the defender to stop those crazy offloads. new zealand rely solely on the breakdown and when they losew that battle they pretty much always lose. they put so much emphasis on it that they make those illegal tactics to make suure they have the edge. things like bridging, coming in offside and mccaw does basically whatever, pulling defenders out of alignment off the ball, blocking chasers it all basically means they can recxycle with no competition and they can get that momentum to play the way they want.

@polyboy

new zealand like to ;launch lots of attacks off their scrums its the ultimate attacking platform way better than the lineout. they uised to have the bnest scrum in the world between 2004-2007 and thats the greatest all blakck era ever specifically 2005 and 2006.

my call is this game will go to new zealand 31-12. i dont get why the boks get beaten so much in new zealand, the conditions favour the boks more for those bigger forwards but south africa favours new zealand with the better surface. its crazy.

@ Poly, I did not contradict meself in my post, I did not say the AB won the match convincingly, I said the Boks did.   Read my post again, and this time pay attention to detail for words like 'we' , which I assumed you would have figured out that I meant the Boks mate.

It all depends on the game pattern that HM wants to play.....ready reports it once again gives one insight in the mind of HM and not be a great poker player it seems one can read what HM is going to do a mile away....rubbish statements like we want a "ugly win" ext just shows the conservative donkey in HM mind kicking at his hardest.

the boks this year as shown that they are playing more up tempo and attacking with width so any and i repeat and retreat on that template will more likely than not leave the the boks toothless.

as recent history has shown we have a rubbish record against the AB just for that reason. you need to up the tempo run at them run at them and run at them and the cracks will come. using the england game from last year the english took it to them and won it.

the AB are at there happiest with the ball in hand starve them of the ball and your 9/10ts there.

but expect the box kick to be wielded out. aimless tactical kicking. lets hope HM is trying to go out to eden park to play rugby and not siting back trying to (in HM own words) absorb pressure which is own masked word for lets defend for 80 mins......no team on the planet can beat the AB for just trying to defend.

the ref is a non issue as HM knows how he handles the game so there cant be any excuses afterwords as to how the breakdown needs to be handled as part of the coaching team he needs to prepare to the refs laws.

LETS HOPE AND PRAY HM IS NOT TO GO ALL 1992 AND TASK MORNE TO KICK EVERYTHING DOWN FIELD. IF THAT IS THE CASE EXPECT A LONG DAY AT THE OFFICE FOR THE BOKS

when teams are evenly matched the side that throws it around usually loses. you play into the hands of the opponent. the boks must wear the all blacks down and then take their opportunities. running it is not a winning formula, hell you want to end up where the wallabies are? then great go ahead and play this "unconservative futuristic game" youlll be very sorry!

the wallies made shit decisions....and we are not the wallies thank the lord for that.

the teams that have the best records against the AB are those who generally have a crack at there defence...i never ever said fling it from side to side...this is not "laerskool stuff boetie" if you retain your ball and grind them out the wall will crack. kicking the ball away as we know meyer and morne love to do will be cannon fodder for the best team at exposing attacking ball or taking aimless kicking.....its a bad idea to make you opposing team feel comfortable but making them do exactly what they like to do and in the case of the wallies and AB they love having the ball in hand.

the likes of smith and co dream about open space and kicks not finding touch. morne steyn has always been piss poor against the AB as his skillset is exposed on more than one occasion....

but lets hope meyer does not go ultra conservative as whats the use of playing rugby if your not even going to try and play rugby hey ?

carpoetmuncher, the wallabies have far better skills than the boks in the backs. if we couldnt pull off this crazy shit nobody will. the all blacks found the wallabies m,uch harder when they played a better tactical game.... far harder! thank lord meyer wont blow this opportunity so recklessly.

first of all there different modes of attack but i beg to differ about the quality of the backs at the moment. our boys are on par with the wallies if the game pattern flows to wards them. no backline on the planet can play of slow ball.

if meyer goes conservative expect a loss Ihi the boks post 1990 record is nothing short of rubbish against the AB and this type of mindset is the main reason.

and on par the AB in generally kick tactically a lot better than the boks. carter has the wood over morne in the department.

but reading your post it seems your have some trouble reading any post as your comments just shows you are as one track mind as anyone else

Ntanga, thought had read your post correctly, you said AB's scrum struggled against Wobblies and Argies, I didn't mean you contradicted yourself, but that even though the AB's don't have a dominant scrum they are still able to win matches convincingly the implication being that the scrum as an attacking platform may not be all that important if you can control your ball on your feed. I didn't say you said the AB's had won convincingly anywhere I said they won convincingly against both the Wallabies and the Argies because you stated they struggled against both teams at scrum time.
