Gotta get some of what Nienies is smoking. It's the good shit.
Gotta get some of what Nienies is smoking. It's the good shit.
Physio?? Why physio?? Explain ex saff...
Also pretty doubtful Willemse would have done better. Frans did to his credit make critical stops on defence. Not the glitzy horsehit you tits love... but kind of important you dumpy arse.
Well who do you think the "Selection group" are going to select as the second #10 to go to the WC now that Frans has solidified his selection?
What a player.........
The stuff that N smokes you cannot buy its keep "in house" for special events.
Beats smoking rotten biltong...
Nienaber must justify the selection of the much-criticized Steyn in this case, It is normal for coaches to come out with statements like he did iro Steyn - Meyer made a profession out of doing just that.
Steyn was in facr shit poor in the game on Saturday and the Springboks win the match despite of his presence.
Well Comrade ... as a learned man ... who has taken time to study the situation ... who, in your opinion is a better choice at 10 than Fat Fransie?
Justify your choice.
How about Elton "pelvic movement" Jantjies?
... or Pollard ... Morne Steyn ... Willemse ... Libbok ... Goosen??
Having just read that list back to myself ... all I can say is ... wow!! You guys really have a list of world beaters to select from.
Haaaaaaaaahahahahaha!! Shamepies!! What a mess!!
What did Fat Fransie do wrong that the others would not have?
From my perspective ... he did what was expected of him ... nothing flashy ... but he was solid enough on the day.
He has decades of experience ... and can bang a ball over from deep in his own half.
Perhaps it's best you dweebs go along with the physio's choice in Fat Fransie Steyn.
He's streets ahead of the rest of them.
Fransie's place kicking was great. Touch kicks poor, conceded 5 turnovers, nonfactor on attack. And this wasn't exactly top tier opposition, Argentina was bog average. It's one thing to accept mediocrity because there's nothing better waiting in the wings, but it's another thing to talk up mediocrity instead of expecting a higher standard.
Pakie
After watching the first 5 pf the match in which Frans Steyn made bugger-up after bugger-up it was clear to me that if the Springboks want to win the match it will have to happen despite having Steuyn at flyhalf. Whenever a kicker taking a line kick after a penalty and missed finding the touchline it is clear to me that the player is useless It happened 3 times to Steyn on Saturday. The result was that especially in the case of penalty kicks at touchline int eh corner - they took the kicks away from Steyn.
As to kicking at goal - it is obviously important - but when a flyhalf sabotage the backline like Steyn did on Saturday the value of such a player at flyhalf is totally destroyed. On Saturday it happened a number of times that the ball was not passed to Steyn for a proper backline attack - but directly to De Allende to ensure forward movement. The problem was it means ca carry in traffic and De Allende often caused a gain in territory despite the defense of up to four players trying to bring him down. The negative is that it does not allow for the backline to get forward movement in more space.
Anyway - I do not believe that Steyn is the real answer at flyhalf - he is a player that needs tm e to come to a decision and the problem in the past was he is too slow in deciding on options and his kicks were often charged down. Although he tried to avoid that by standing deeper in the pocket it happened on Saturday as well.
Insaofar as the flyhalf position is concerned - you must always look at a natural flyhalf and that is a real difficulty especially with Pollard being out of form and Willemse being more of a various positions in the backline option and Jantjies being shit player it is clear that we are in a mess in that position, especially if Pollard remains off form. I think an option would be to play Goosen at flyhalf - he is a natural in that position - but the guy is costantly injured and that is a majr problem.
To ansser CC - to my mind we should go the way of Meyer did in 2014 and the French did in the 2019 WC and look at the potential under 20 flyhalfs and start with a development program from there, What I will do is to take Wolhuter and Ngomezulu with the squad of the EOYT and use them in the midweek games and use Pollard, Goosen and Willemse confine to the tests.
Well Comrade ... I can't really find fault with your reasoning.
Lets face it ... the senior players available to you are beyond dismal.
Not so sure the youngsters are any better ... however ... if coached and managed properly ... who knows?
This coach buddy buddy approach needs to end once and for all. It is almost that they are too afraid to speak out in the media or at least be transparent with both the player and the fan. But, the media pointed out that they are thin at 10, yet they stuck to this squad system of loyalty and that you have to spend at least 2 seasons in camp before you considered a regular.
They only reason why kwagga is on the field is because he has been carrying tackle bags for 2 years and now he is our best player of Kolisi. This is absurd. I understand how important team cohesion is and that it can get the best out of players. The case is Willie where the player wanted to be dropped but the team and coaches made a nice little real for him to show how amazing he is to give him confidence.
However, this the highest level and you need to deliver. Not have 5 bad games and then 1 good game is all good because you have been part of the system.
Lets just call out BS.
Bring in those 10s that are performing in the first class rugby, but if there are not any good ones around, then look at your youth teams to see who you can fast track. That is exactly what happened to Pollard. He is only 27 but it feels like he has been around for ages.
The downside, we only have 4 professional teams and our 10s need first class games under their belts.
I like Sacha Ngumuzulu, but he is being used as a utility player and haven't really been playing as a reserve 10 or even taken the lead as a 10 in some games.
But under the current coaching structure a 10 is there to tackle, kick and convert penalty opportunities. Maybe pass, some times or run with the ball and crash it up.
That is probably why they don't think we need a 10
We should have noticed a red flag when Rassie picked an aged and an ordinary Schalk Brits.
Go Fransie... jou doring
Please will the selectors call on the Stormers #10 to be the next great fly-half.
All the Stormers supporters are pulling out their hair in despair.
He might even be a "Jantjies ll".
