His passports problems are now resolved, and he is on the way- but it seems team protocol is that a player is usually not considered if they don't train on Monday before the weekend test.

Fassi must get a run, given how poor Jessica Kriel was. Fassi needs to get experience now so he can peak for the next world cup.

Frans Steyn will probably start as fullback, as Willemse will probably not be available due to the head concussion he sustained.

It would be a good experience for Fassi playing on the wing, alongside Frans at Fullback - one of the Springbok Greats of the modern era.

That is a fuck up as Kriel was awful on the wing and it’s only a matter of time before fat and slow Frans gets totally exposed. We needed Fassi at 15 and Nkosi on the wing

Frans Steyn is a backline player in the body of a retired prop forward.
He has the brains to play, so much so that he won man of the match over the weekend - but there will always be concerns with his pace on defence. With 2 more years before the world cup (in Europe), Steyn may still be in the plans.

You just miss so much Dave. Look at that try opportunity when the demonstrator got on the park. Steyn killed that chance by getting forward to tackle the inside Wallie who slowed up into the tackle….so the pass was behind Williams. That gave the cover the split second it needed.

Frans was doing smart stuff all over the park. How often is express pace really needed at fullback….once every 5 games? Frans has never been express and I can’t recall once it has hurt us.

Without Frans we lose that test. It's that simple. Two consecutive wins because of Frans. He had a slow start against Wales but ended up being the decisive contributor. Fassi, Damian et al. They'll never do that for the team.

Sorry Moz he is super kak these days. He can crash it up as he is so big and while it’s an advantage him carrying in traffic but he will give us nothing from the back in terms of a counter or getting into position at the back to field or cover With all the talent we have why the hell are we selecting an out of shape 34 year old We have not suffered yet as he operates off the bench but potentially he could start against Scotland which frightens the life out of me

Yes Willie will start if he is not injured I’d keep the same side but start Willie at 15 and Fassi on the wing ahead of Kriel I’d also start Marx and Kitshoff

Willie is one of a kind. The closest would be Bosch, but Fassi is a passive, unskilled and fast black man, and we all know the Plastiks cream themselves over that. But, Willie will never shine in this backward shambles being dressed up as a gameplan.

I agree start fassi on wing. Surely he will do better than Kriel. Kriel should get a start in his position again as centre....I think there is still magic left.

In terms of positional sense, high balls and defence... Kriel and Fassi are about the same. Kriel just looks to be trying harder because he has resting turtle face.

Bosch is the most effective ball carrier of all Saffers in southern hemisphere rugby since 2019. Fassi doesn't register. Fassi looked no more engaged than Nkosi or Kriel. He isn't a class player, rather, you are desperate for him to become one.

Bosch averages 8.9 metres per carry. How about Fassi? Also clocking more metres than any other of the top 30 South African ball carriers. How about Fassi? You are too easy.

Fassi is the best backline prospect in some time. He is an all-round player, that will get better with more test experience. He is a true utility player, that can cover many positions in the backline.

A tribute video! The beginnings of another flub is afoot. This is going to be fun.

We produce many "utility players" post-ELVs. Do you know why? Because they are generic, with a limited tool set that cannot fit the defined roles of any position, so they get shifted around the backline, coaches hoping that something sticks. He'll get better with more exposure? That very seldom happens. The only player I have seen get progressively better in the past ten years is Wiese, but the Kak Pack don't want him. Something about being stupid - funny how Steph and Damian aren't too stupid to represent the Boks, anyhoo... this is going to be another fun journey. I see a trail of tears ahead for the Plastiks.

"Frans has never been express and I can’t recall once it has hurt us"

Have to agree

Without Frans, this last test and the AB test in particular were guaranteed losses, his impact on both games was huge... especially the AB test
