Just shows how thick you are Chicken....you were to only idiot who had issues with Swiel, while the rest of us saw a solid performance and that glimpse of magic with his break........you keep digging your hole thickshit

So one break against the Cheetahs is "magic" now? Give me a break Dave. Let me sum it up for you. 2 x games for Swiel just so happened to be the Sharks 2 worst of the season where we just kicked the shit out of it. Luckily Frans took over in the second half and ensured us victory.
My thoughts were shared with Jake White..Hell, I would rather feel what Jake does than what you do Mr. Jantjies is a class act! You get my point arsehole? You wouldn't know what a class rugby player is if it slapped you in the ugly face Mr. Serfontein is better than JDV...

There is no fault with Swiel's ball sense and ball handling as well as his speed - that would not be a problem.
However, there is no quarantee that the Sharks backline would function properly irrespective of how well he plays. The backline has in the main misfired in all but the first game in Super 15 and the reason for that had more to do with an even worse performance by the Bulls backline in the relevant game.
The problem was that despite a few individual brilliant displays by like Mvovo and Jordaan the rest of the backline produced very near to zero effective backline play. It would not what Swiel do or not do - it is what is going to happen iro of Steyn's performance at 12 whether there will be any signs of life in that backline. Mvovo, Jordaan and Sithole can only sign if they get ball supply and what they got in the past games were few and far between and only when they could produce nothing with it.
The player to watch out for is not Swiel - it is Francois Steyn - the guy with no line breaks as yet this year (even in 2 games against the Cheetahs) - no tries and a tendency to lose possession of the ball, giving away penalties, making poor passes and guilty of aimless kicking.
My contention is that if Steyn ups his game to a satisfactory level of performance the backline has every chance of performing well - if he plays his standard game, the backline will misfire irrespective of what Swiel does or does not do.

Ah yeah, lets blame the opposition......the same Cheetahs who made the play offs last year.........fuck me is that your defence? Pathetic.......here is a suggestion, give up you ignorant twat........you are no measure for me despite how big, strong and good looking you are!!!!

One year is a long time in rugby arsehole. I am not speculating here Dave..I am stating fact..The Cheetahs, for all that they were last year, are the weakest defence in the comp this year.
2013 Cheetahs 4 games on tour, they won 3 of them whilst scoring 85 points and conceding 100 (25 avg a game) due to a blow out against Chiefs.
2014 they lost all 4 games and conceded 178 points (44.5 average a game) including record scores posted by Rebels and Reds as well as a 60 point klap from Canes.
So, Dave, please do go on..Tell me how this is the same team we saw last year. Do tell me that Robert Ebersohn was useless.

Haha and he calls me easy pickings..Dave, I will always have something for you because I am smarter than you..You think you smart but you really are not. You do not consider all the facts and you talk too much instead of listen..You very quick to fire off but you only think after which is why you are constantly out debated. You are always tying yourself in knots and having to try explain yourself using dumb logic. Very contradictory!

So are you saying that Swiel took that gap because the Cheetahs are defensively poor this year.......bwhaahaaaaa........yeah you have me there you fucking idiot........Geez
24 Apr 2014, 17:49#11
Those are your words, not mine..I am saying that one can expect a few gaps to open up against them. My only concern is that Swiel kicked far too much ball back to them instead of look for a few more gaps on more occasions. I mean Dave, 178 points in 4 games does not happen by kicking 3 pointers..The gaps are so clearly there. Swiel was just not good enough on the day to exploit some more of them or even better, put his dangerous outside backs through a few.
Just so happens, the first real crack he decided to have, he broke the line easily!

What happened insofar as kicking is concerned was noy in context - where did Swiel kick and where did he not kick. His kicks were from his own 22 or just outside of it - and that depends entirely on the game plan.
Who did he have to pass to? Steyn who never threatened any backline during the whole year and showed no penetration at all (against all teams inclusive of the Cheetahs) or wider out where the backline was made up of some learners.
He did kick too much - but nor when there was a chance of attack - so that was not the real problem. When there was a chance of a run or attack it was taken. However those were far and few between.
I would like to see what Steyn produced this time around - he was pathetic in attack thus far this series and showed nothing. So if he improves it may be different - I say may because chances are very slim .

Saffex, Dave or whatever you want to call yourself.
You should not be allowed to breed. I have never seen such total and utter filth and arrogance.
'you are no measure for me despite how big, strong and good looking you are!!!!'
I think the courts should legalize torture, exclusively for you.

Rugtwat, do you honestly think anyone gives a flying fuck what you have to say about anything?
25 Apr 2014, 03:51#16
Skills Dave?? You mean an inside step to beat a player takes "serious" skill.Dave, you do know that we are talking about a Super rugby flyhalf here. If he does not possess the simple "skill" of changing direction, then I am afraid we have all been conned!
I saw Beaudy Barrett and Quade Cooper possess enough skill to have field days against the Cheetahs! Setting their backs up all over the show and punching holes..Lets call a spade a spade here David!

You still avoid the simple question - against which teams did the Sharks backline play well this year with any flyhalf playing for them? Did anyone at flyhalf make a difference to their performances?
I will give you the answer - against NO teams did their backline as a whole performed well. The backline was really incapable to initiate and score tries irrespective of who was the flyhalf.
I had a good hard look at 4 games where different players play at flyhalf and it became clear that -
* that where Steyn and Zeilinga played at flyhalf their ball carries were totally ineffective - Steyn gaining an average of 1,63 meters per carry making no line breaks and Zeilinga an average of 2,2 meters per carry making no line breaks
* that where Lambie and Swiel played at flyhalf their ball carries were effective - Lambie gaining an average of 5.17 meters per carry making one line break and Swiel an average of 6,6 meters per carry making two line breaks
The above raises an interesting question as to where was the support from backline players where Lambie and Swiel made line breaks? In both cases - nowhere. Lambie's one line break resulted in a try scored by himself - in the case of Swiel - none of the backline players were available in the case of both line breaks. Nobody was running lines that could put them in a place where they could receive passes from the flyhalfs after successful line breaks.
In the case where Lambie was flyhalf he himself, Reinach and Jordaan scored tries - the latter being an individual effort resulting from some brilliant play by Mvovo and himself - none was from a backline move. The same scenario applied where Steyn was flyhalf - no attacking backline moves in evidence.
The problem of lack of attacking ability was not the flyhalf - it was elsewhere in the backline. In the case of Swiel it was particularly bad. He made two effective line breaks and there was no backline players he could pass the ball to after the breaks. If there was then the backs could have punched holes. Where did the fault lie???
It is very shortsighted to blame the flyhalf for the lack of skill and in particular reading of the game displayed by the players outside of him such as happened in the cases where both Lambie and Swiel played at flyhalf.
I think that is why White refers to the lack of co-ordination when he discussed the backline issue after the game last Saturday.
