No flyhalf added to the squad
Dweeb's Springbok career could be short. He hardly covered himself in glory. His throws in were abysmal. Dean Fourie has been the backup and seemed ok over the weekend.
Good to see Nkosi back. I wonder if he will get a run at13
Arendse had some good performances. His defence in particular was very good.
Fourie was the backup hooker, albeit he played at loose forward. I think one of the reasons he moved to loose forward was that his throws in are not good
A hooker IS defined by frequent skew throw in's. That being said, his game outside the scrum was poor as well...
Dweebs is not a good player at all.
He's a short fat little man with a hairdo unbecoming a Bok.
He should rather join Trevor at the local Burger King and rethink his career choices.
Geez how stupid are these coaches
Or they know their trade well enough to understand the requirements put on a 10 in SA rugby team.
Going to be hard to dissociate a useless by himself player from a player who plays a useless position.
In both cases, he will appear useless.
Dave
You cannot on test level has a light-wieght as hooker - since hookers must add strength to scrumming and they must also help on ballancing the scrum. Fourie can never play at hooker in that situation. .
Really?? That is dumb and short sighted....they are sticking to that what they've got and can offer as Coaches ....R&N has clearly not the ability to accommodate all styles of players, just the ones they can turn into R&N Zombies.....they have reached there ceiling as coaches and are clinching on in the hope they can maybe win another WC....there you have it in a nut schell.....selfishness in putting there legacy first, and not the greater good of SA Rugby.
Only because Bongi is injured...
He fits right in with the rest of his useless favourites.
Nicely put, Power.
Rassie and his physio have run out of ideas.
They've built nothing in the last 4 years ... as you can see by the non existent depth in the squad.
They have to resort to digging up some hasbenn whose best days were back in 2007 to play him out of position because theres no one else.
Its hilarious to see how shortsighted these racist idiots are.
The guys that are keeping the team ticking over are the white front row of Kitshoff, Marx and belly flop Malherbe.
Etzebeth can be added to that list.
When these guys end their careers, who will take over from them?
Dweebs? Ox? Trevor? Moerat?
Haaaahaha!!
Talk about being dumb and shortsighted.
The Bok is giving its last few kicks before the inevitable passing.
......they have reached there ceiling as coaches.......
I might just add that it's a very low ceiling........built on geriatrics, has-beens, an appalling game plan and an ordinary pattern of play....let alone some utterly useless selections and the failure to grow the squad.
So who are our backups then at 10 for this upcoming test?
De Klerk and Le Roux?!! I have to agree with Dave, you don't start a player against the All Blacks. Mallet fucked up years ago when he started with Gaffe Du Toit and Dave van Hosselin. Those two were setting the currie cup alight and were a fantastic combo, but they completely imploded. Neither players recovered from that.
I think it is dumb of the coaches to use this throw into the deep end mentality. It wrecks a lot of players careers and they never the same again. Dwebe should have been on the bench or at least pick Gobbler who have been the form hooker. Not Fourie who even in his own words didn't want to play at hooker when the stormers were short and had many injuries that they had to loan in players. Why on earth would Fourie be a good choice?
Note, these crazy picks are all former Stormers boys that played under Rassie and the physio way back when.
Rassie doesn't invest in other players. Libbok should have at least been part of the squad for the home test so that he can learn and train. Not my pick but way better than Frans.
Not sure what the makeup of the backline would look like at all this weekend.
Do we move willie to 10, given that Fat Frans won't get past 10 min.
I like Nkosi, but he was okay over the weekend, looked a bit slow on pace.
Will have to see what they puke up this weekend for a team
Mallet fucked up years ago when he started with Gaffe Du Toit and Dave van Hosselin.
Mallet?

You do not have to go back to write about flyhalf selections as you did in the Mallet case - you only have to look at Morne Steyn as a Meyer and Coetzee selection to realize what real disasters are made of.
I am a bit disappointed that the present selection committee of coaches have not taken a deeper look at the flyhalf situation and started looking at phasing players in. It is clear they misjudged Jantjies and he is out of contention totally - they looked at Goosen - but he has not played for a very long time - while Pollard has deteriorated badly since 2019.
I think the selectors put their money on Pollard backed up by Willemse - but when both Pollard and Willemse are out the sme time there is nothing bar duds to back up the two. O am afraid that Linnok has his moments on franchise level - but will eb amazed if he does not do a Robert Du Preez game against the Welsh in June 2018. I would rather look at what can bedone and the answer may in the longer run be Ngomezulu - the under 20 flyhalf that performed top class in the Under 20 series against the EU countries and hope to see him in the squad and giving game time from the bench in the EOY squad this year,
Duplica te
The media did question the "Physio" earlier in the year and he just went, oh we have Wille, Kolbe and De Klerk that can cover 10. They might has well just put Eben at 10 and let just bash it up, Jaden, to take not the kicking and Willie come in off 2nd phase and try to spread it.
What happened at ranking players. Right now we have a problem in the URC with our Flyhalves.
I agree that Nogomzulu looks like a great prospect, but he need some more starting first class games.
Here are our Flyhalve Stocks in SA right now
Sharks: Bosch, Chamberlain and Zelinga (None Bok Material)Bulls: Smith, Steyn, Goosen (Only Goosen, injured and pushing 30)Stormers: Libbok, Ngomozuly, Kade Wolhouter (Both Juniors are promising but not ready for the step up)Lions: Hendriks, Lombardi, Zander Du Plessis. Hendrikse is super talented, but he hasn't delivered when needed. Lombardi was in Japan for a while but no idea if he is any good.
Our top 3 Flyhalves according to the Coaches are Pollard, Jantjies, Willemse and Frans Steyn. Pollard is out of form, Jantjies have to many side show shit going on, Willemse can't kick at post and don't 10 frequently, probably shift back to 15 for Stormers. Frans, well enough said.
So fully agree that we are super short on Depth and experience right now.

Cannot agree with you more - I saw Wolhuter in one game and he was really classy and I think Ngomezulu was classy as well. The problem is they are both in the Stormers squad and apparently Libbok is preferred by the Stormers at flyhalf - so neither Wolhuter nor Ngomezulu gets game time.
In terms of his conditions of service Erasmus can arrange that the two players can be moved to other franchises for playing purposes. He should actually use that to ensure that the two gets game time in future. None of the relevant franchises have a really good flyhalf.
Another guy I saw in the Varsity Cup and was impressed by was a chap by the name of Chait who played for Maties - he was signed up by the Sharks - but in the past 18 months did not play a single game for them. Sad to see talent like that wasted - especially at flyhalf where we seems to be in real trouble.
