Having been a lead actor in tanking Jake White and getting the captaincy as a reward, he leaves for Japan. Leaving the Bools struggling to get back to the level they were at last year. I have yet to see the contributions that make this man an automatic Bok5. Mostert is probably past it, but this man is so much less.
Nortje rings the cash register
Good player. He will be missed.
David loved him
What a tragedy, now we have lost both Moerat and Nortje as our next in line bok locks, only to apply their trade abroad at their peak. We'll probably get them back when they about 40 or something and then just holding up the production line because of "experience"
To be honest, neither are a massive loss.
Speaking of, those who over threw Jake are all leaving now. So wonder who was to blame. All the assistant coaches are gone and now the players who were moaning are leaving too. Not always the coach but poor attitudes.
Got to give Rassie credit in the team culture he is building
The Bools have played 14 matches this year, Nortje has been there for most.
He has made 76 tackles…… Mostert typically made that many in 5 matches
He missed 16 for a tackle success ratio of 79%…..Mostert might have missed 16 tackles after making 500
The level of clown one has to be to not appreciate Mostert.
A guy that made the most tackles in a team that built its system around tackling and made the most tackles in the WC.
Plum
Mostert at best was a bench player for the Springboks and when i came to tackling his open field tackling wa a joke in bad tatste and in traffic he needed help from a teammate to tackle effectively, He was the only lock who I saw being pusched out of a ruck at bnrekdiwn by a scrummie,
Not physical enough to be an effectie lock and also a rob lem at 7,
And yet he has started in 48 tests for Erasmus, the coach you revere. And started in the last RWC final, semi final and QF. Clearly Erasmus never viewed him as a ‘bench option’
Most of his starts came from absence of Snyman and De Jager when they were injured or as a bench player
He played in 83 tests - someimes as aa loosie - but only scored 4 tries, .
And, most importantly, he never played for WP, ne Mike?
I'd clone Mostert if I could.
We need some Springbok rugby…even the Masters is turning into a Rory dominated bore.
I am not i nterested in whether anybody play for any area franchises. Kets look a t the Champions Cup n 2024-25. No SA Franc hise wa aanywh ere near the quarterfinals in they years 2021-22, up to 2024 - 2025//
Shit coches became the norm in SA Franchise Rugby and the best coach this year was the Lions coach , So what did we have at present?-
Fiom a coachng perspective we have ths year::-
- The Sharks showed signs of limited potential this year - the Sharks will not make it though to the quarterfnals the URC this year,- Pietersen started off looking good against the Stomrmers - but is unlikely to make the grade as a coach in the long run, The Sharks has a major problem - their backline is a joke in bad taste,
- The Bulls was miserable this year an their win - loss margin was sub-standard on URC level - but an improvement on ICC level. Ackerman stated off bad on URC level - but recently started showing better on ICC level endng up in the quarterfinal this year, May stay in the URC to reach the Quarters like theyd id regularly from 2021-22 - but nv won in the tournament, Under White the Bulls backline was substandard - bar on the wings. Ten man rugby was and remains their norm aince 2021 to 2024.
- S o now we gat to Dobson - he has talents like Sacha - but Sacha on Springbok level is a star - playing for the S tormers his potential is undermned. Dobson is a sunstandard coach losing in crticcal matches on both URC and ICC level. D os not know what the S tormers must play to maintain competitiveness, The loss against Toulon is a typical example neutralizing Chasa as a matchwonning asset is being neutrlize,
- Thebest Frachise coach is the Lions turning average players into matchwinning The Lions at present has the ebst franchise coach in SA, He maximise the usage of average players into matchwinning and surprisingly is very likely to eb in the URC quarters this year,
On this site a lot of comments were amde about Mostert, He was red-ht in 2014 playin g for he Lions - but went to play for Gloucester when Ackerman became the Head Coach there, Neiher Ackerman nor Mostet really produced the goods for the team and from Gloucester Ackerman went to Japan and so did Mostert, Erasmus asked the Lions to play Mostert at 7 - but he failed in hat position - but Mostert file in that posiion and the Lions moved hm back to lock after three matches, Mostert played a lot of matches fo the Spring boks - but was only first choice lock and only played from he bench or started when better players were injured. Most of he matches he played for the Springboks Most of the amtches he played in Mostert as a replacement unit and played from the bench, At 33 he is a no-no at present,
