Surely this is an obvious mismatch?? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for other left out nations to participate pre-WC because it can only help improve those nations and remind them where they're at...instead of getting nasty shocks at pool stage. But NZ Japan has to be a joke...although someone mentioned that the Nips beat Wales, but that's a Welsh side that was depleted of players during the Lions tour to Oz. But still??

Sorry mate, this is far from a derogatory word at all...the Japanese language uses the term Nippon...crumbs has this world gone nuts...is Saffa derogatory or Pom..I'm Irish family and I'm referred to as Mick or Paddy. Some people see ugliness and a devil behind every bush, everywhere...it's called inferiority complex or a chip on one's shoulder.

"nip" is a racial slur derived from the word Nippon.

Just like "Nigger" is a racial slur derivide from the Spanish word negro.

It's promotional my brother. Yeah it's a mismatch don't expect them to roll out the big guns for it I'd expect the whole bench to start. With the new grasshoppers. They will host the 2019 RWC. So they will see were there at. And we all know the answer. But helps get the game in the publics mind. My wife's uncle is Japanese. I wouldn't call him a nip....he'd cut me to pieces with his granddad samurai sword. Not great at rugby but they are great people. They still respect there traditions and heritage. They were once great warriors.

 Well much ado about nothing...I for one have huge respect for Japanese people...I've been to Japan...my old company's principals were Japanese...gentleman of the highest calibre...I certainly never intended to insult anybody...you are being petty and fault-finding...you are straining at gnats whilst swallowing camels. If you knew me, this would be very foreign to me...you are simply implying something that never was there in the first place. Anyway this had nothing to do with your sidetracking ...it was the issue of the All Blacks playing Japan...incidentally I take an interest in Japanese rugby...a lot of our good school rugby teams have played there and yes there is good rugby there in some of their schools. It is always strange how there are people that always want to side track and take you off in another direction.

 This is part of the  ABs advertising rugby as a global game. I have no problem whatsoever with the Test - also a chance to see what that wiley Eddie Jones is up to.

 If not liking racism, and or, un-educated people spewing racist slurs, then I guess I'm "petty" and "fault-finding". I don't like racism in any shape or form, whether it's meant, or just from not being educated. It's degenerative, and quite easy to "find" in a person.

As for the All Blacks playing Japan. It's to grow the game before the 2019 World Cup.  The All Blacks are the most recognized rugby team in the world. Watch for more of these games in the next few years in Japan.

 I am waiting for them to play Canada in Canada in the middle of the Canadian winter

 Well, the Maoris are going to be here next month. That should be chilly enough. Our rugby season stops in December and January, then gets going again in mid February. It's just to cold in those months.

 You have to be careful these days mr caveman ,I pulled up someone on planet rugby for calling indigenous Aussies " Aborigines" which is on a par with the "N" word amongst my wifes people .Having said that when I first met her she kept referring to some family called the 'Murrays " with other people in Queensland ,I thinks to meself "man this Murray family is everywhere here ,and they seem to be in trouble with the stinky police a lot too " turns out she was referring to "Murri's" the QLD word for Indigenous Aussies ! Talk about embarrassment ! Strangely enough " Aboriginal " is fine but not "Aborigine" And my avatar of "Uncle Ruckus " is from the show "Boondocks " with an all black [ no pun intended] cast whiich uses the "N" word in huuuuge numbers and so many varied ways ,heaps funny too.Hey Cloudy !

It's easy to offend without even knowing it but most give the benefit of the doubt. When I first went  to the US (early 70s)  I was always using "boy" in my sentences. It was common usage, e.g boy that was a close one. This was not a word you should use among American blacks but they cut me some slack. I had no idea that this word had some historical context.

 Can man, I'm sure no racism was intended.  Different countries have different sensitive expression s. No harm intended I'm sure.

 Yup its mostly about context isnt it ? There are things that for instance one Maori can say to Another  but woe betide a non Maori saying same ! Some words should only be used in a historical context to illustrate something ? Or to point out ongoing racism ? I am sure Cavey there was not being deliberatly racist .
