A few weeks back Elton was the answer. With great enthusiasm we were told he was the form flyhalf and the only player who could really change how the Boks played the game. Well playing in NZ isn't quite like playing in Joburg against a team that has just arrived at 6600 ft, so he bombed in the Super final. But still think of all the great moments in the semis.
Now after missing tackles, dropping balls, kicking directly into touch and sowing confusion among all who labour outside him......it's enough. Everybody thinks he has to go, and here's the funny part......we really need Lambie.
Sure lets replace one midget with another. Rush a seriously concussed player back to action. Wasn't this the guy who started against Japan, Italy and Wales in 2014? So what's his recent record when starting at Bok flyhalf....say since 2014. Why it's 3 wins and 3 losses. His overall flyhalf record is 7 wins and 4 losses....with no wins against Oz or NZ. Overall the Bok record over the same period is 39 and 18, considerably better in total than the games Lambie started at flyhalf.
It would be so typical if we knee jerk back to a chap who has exactly the same issues as the guy who is currently flopping.
18 Sept 2016, 22:11#2
With Pollard out, who else is there? I don't think Lambie is the answer to our woes in the long run and would prefer if he didn't play at all this year, just so he can fully recover. Trouble is that Morne could do the job but I feel that we should be blooding new players.
Where they'll find them, I dunno.

Morne last test start was in Perth in 2014 - where he missed 8 of 15 tackle attempts and made a normal Morne bugger up to lose the game. Not even Meyer would start with him subsequently, By the way - Mozart is floundering again. I was not happy with the idea of Jantjjies being the flyhalf and started a thread about it.
18 Sept 2016, 22:26#5
But Mike, would you really rush Lambie back?
I'm not a fan of Morne's game overall but he's still playing better than Jantjies.

The Bok win ratio when Morne has started since 2012, the same period I measured Lambie.......14 wins/5 losses
Obviously there are extenuating circumstances but 14/5 is a whole lot better than 7/4.....almost twice as good in fact. But hey, let's not let any facts get in the way.
18 Sept 2016, 23:28#7
Can't argue the numbers. Still think we need to move on from Morne though. How's those 2 WP lighties coming along?

I would prefer Goosen gets a shot.
Jantjies does not understand the one-dimensional game of Coetzee, so their is no point choosing him to play a game where he can't use his strong points.
Goosen seems much more physical than before he went to f rance

Jantjies is consistently inconsistent & at 26 years I doubt whether he can change . Good provincial player isall . Once he dropped that sitter he was mentally fcked & his game nosedived .

Goosen showed a few flashes against the lesser teams.....he was a deer in the headlights against NZ. Did you register how short his line kicks were SB. Given Pollard is hurt and Lambie isn't the answer, there is a temptation to try him. But I'm pretty confident it's another blind alley.

Balls as per normal - the idiot makes statements he cannot prove again. I would play Goosen in his natural position a flyhalf - bearing in mind that he played the fool with Morne Steyn this year when he was flyhalf for Racing Metro against Stade Francais with Morne at flyhalf. I would rather start with Goosen at flyhalf and Lambie on the bench to try and phase him in. Mozart are a Morne Steyn addict because he can kick - irrespective of how aimless his donkey kicking game is - so having him discussing fl yhalfs is like hearing a toddler discussing scientific development.
19 Sept 2016, 12:27#13
Bringing Morne back is nothing more than a desperate and clueless Coetzee grasping at straws.
He is past his best by some 7 years. He hasn't been a test prospect for just as long.
He is clueless on attack and hopeless on defence. All he can do is kick possession away and we all saw how he missed a simple touch kick which cost us the test match against the Wallabies. .
Definitely not a test option.
Lambie was hard done by throughout the entire Meyer era. He was never in Meyer's braai circles and subsequently suffered for it.
A concussion has set him back now and he should by rights be left to settle in before taking up his rightful spot at 10 next year.

Handre Pollard is still injured, Elton Jantjies has completely lost form and confidence while Morne Steyn is a slow and clumsy has-been. From this wreckage, Patrick Lambie finally emerges from his concussion and here we have the resident dolt already slagging Lambie off!
LMAO!

Lambie has never been a convincing flyhalf at test or Super level. Even in 2014 when his injury prone body held together for a sequence of Super matches, he was ordinary to poor. Hence the elevation of Pollard.
Dream on about Lambie....the one incident Morne gets pinged about is the one Carbuncle trots out above. The penalty where he missed touch against Oz....of course our defence was completely free of guilt when Oz ran that kick back from 60 metres....all on Morne.
But the hilarious thing is Lambie did exactly the same thing against the Poms in 2014....when the Pom hooker was carded and we needed a try in the last 10 minutes. He kicked the ball into in goal. Not a peep from the faithful.
Aren't you chaps ashamed of your pathetic dishonesty? Nope let me guess, it's all okay.

It's back to the future JW. When Mike was still short of his dotage I actually used to defend him against the Hunch. In those days the Boards were filled with examples of me taking down the resident bully. The Hunch gave up and pretended he didn't want to communicate with me....but snide little barbs could be found deep in strings where he hoped I wouldn't find them. Now a newly emboldened Hunch has decided to take me on with the same predictable results.
Tokkie was actually more of a challenge because he's armored with a thick skin of impervious stupidity.....he never even understood when he was beaten. But sadly his whole world has come crashing down with the demise of his little favourites. So now all we get is the occasional feeble attack.
Have a go yourself I'm looking for better opposition

I have a feeling CleverMike will be back. Based on his duplicate postings I think he must be having internet problems. He also needs some better ammunition as some of the players he loved to hate have moved on.
Never felt the need to hammer away on someone although I enjoy the banter with Beeno as he has no constraints, e.g. logic, accuracy, etc. Wee cc raised his head but he's no fun. To each his own I guess.
Bok supporters need a win to regenerate the chest-pounding of old. For the sake of all of us I hope they get their act together soon as Cloudy seems to have stopped her therapy sessions & the mood on this forum is decidedly dark - so to speak.

The Mozart lie above about the Steyn kick and the one of Lambie is a gross misrepresentation of facts. Steyn's kick was from deep in his 22 and did not find touch by at least five meters so a counter-attack was on the cards. TheLambie kick was from about the halfline and went out behind the goal line - no counter-attack was possible - a scrum from where the kick was made was the only result. The dishonest fool cannot ever make a realistic assessment of situations and that is a fact.
19 Sept 2016, 20:14#36
It's to soon to bring lambie back. We might have to prop our team with a couple of veterans. Not everyone's choice but I would bring Frans Steyn and JO Pietersen back and play Fransie at 15. I would move Goosen to 10. But at least our back line would have more experience. I can't guarantee that we would win but at least our defence will be better and might be able to play the kicking game coetzee wants. I would also look at bringing Pienaar back and look towards blooding a proper 9. Far is just not right for test rugby.
I would bring in Bongi at 2 so that we have a hooked that can at least find our jumpers.
15 frans
14 Havana
13 Kriel
12? De allende
11 Pietersen
10 Goosen
9 Pienaar or Hougaard

But Tokkie you silly plank, the Poms had just lost their hooker to a yellow card. We had the chance of scoring a maul try if a simple penalty kick to touch was made. Lambie botched the chance by kicking dead. Both matches on the edge, both botched penalties.....zero difference in culpability.
I think you are in the right direction Corn, with Frans. But he would be so much more valuable at 10. Goosen is simply not physical enough, and I'm afraid Allende/Kriel is not going to work. Nor would I give up on Faf without giving him a shot with a more stable flyhalf....he certainly saved the Irish series.

I am not saying Lambie did not botch that one - but it is never comparable to the Morne disaster. Hell - this is the worst rubbish I have read on this site. Fat Fransie - the worst form player - is still this Village Idots favour. Slow=thinking and acting is what he wants. Fransie has been constantly in Super Rugby a worse defender than De Allende - and they run past him like he is absent and his crashballing is poor - he is not a tractor - he is a donkey.
20 Sept 2016, 10:16#40
Moz I have always thought of Frans being better suited at 15. He never really grew into a role of a 12 or 10. He has more time at the back it would also mean that we have a siege gun at the back that can punish errant kicks with 50 m drop goals, like he did against Australia. We can always put Frans in the 10 channel if we are defending off set pieces.
We may lose some pace at the back at least we have the players that can take high balls. I would then look at bringing in the likes of senatla and other players to start creating competition.
I would also bring in Rohan Jansenville fro the lions, still young but at least he can link up with Mapoe and we have a center pairing that knows how to to play along side each other.
It is almost the same as the deadline wet Barry and Joubert combo we had where Barry broke the line and for Joubert to to run off him. I don't see that between December allende or de Jong at all.
It would be good to have Serfontein in the mix too.
