Lest look at the present team that played Wales in the second test and see who is the ones whho performed well during Super 15  as a starting point.

Willie le Roux

Good performances throughout the competition

Cornal Hendricks

Mostly a bench player for teh Cheetahs - rarely used in the starting line-up.  When he did play he showed good speed and ball0handling

JP Pietersen

Mostly played on the wing.  Was initially very slow after his return from Japan - but gradually improved as the season went on.  When used at 13 his strong ball carries was noticeable - but he was very iffy in defense.   In essence a wing used at 13 for a few games.

Jan Serfontein

A good Super 15 in general.   Tended to play the crashballing role for the Bulls - but did not really succeeded in general in that respect.   Defense was sound.

Duane Vermeulen

Very good in all aspects of play

Willem Alberts

Extremely low work rate and in general was not really up to standard - both in attacking play and defending play

Victor Matfield

Good in line outs and in ball collection from kick-ins.  Physically not up to standard in iother facets of play.   Made many tackles - but in the main the tackles lacked quality and force.

Flip van der Merwe

Showed serious indiscipline throughout and although a hard worker -- he is a real problem case on the field of play.

Jannie du Plessis

A mixed bag - in some games his scrumming was good - in others average and even poor.   Was always a bit of a problem from a discipline perspective - gave away too many penalties iin scrumming and general play.

Bismarck du Plessis

A very good season  - not really ever below par

Tendai Mtawarire

A very sound season

There was a number of other players that came under scrutiny since they were playing in the Scottish test.

Handre Pollard

Was mostly on the bench for the Bulls - bit when he came on and started in some games - he was very good in all aspects of play.

Francois Hougaard

Sound performer - but his service at times were slow and inaccurate.

Schalk Burger

A sound performer - but subject to injury problems that rules him out of games more frequently than should have happened.   Towards the end of the season showed some tiredness in performances.

Lood de Jager

Bery gopod performance in Super 1215 and shwed real quality in line outs and in general play.  Very strong ball carrier.

Adrian Strauss

Good season - but also at times had disciplinary problems.

Other players in Super 15

Francois Steyn

Showed ner to zero in attacking play and his defense was sub-par - both when he played at center and flyhalf.  His goal kicking was good - but his out-of-hand kicking was a mixed bag - mostly aimless and inaccurate and from time to time very poor.

Damian de Allende

Excellent stuff - one of the top performing centers in Super 15 prior to his injury.

Johan Goosen

A sound season on the whole - with glimpses of bery good play from time to time.

Patrick Lambie

Had a long injury lay-off - was up to standard before injury.

Marcell Coetzee

Was absolute class throughout the Super 15 season.

Frans Malherbe

Was the top performing prop in Super 15 before his concussion  injury.  Good in both scrumming and  general play.

Foreign Club Players

Bryan Havana

Had a aserious injury - but when eh did play he showed calss

Morne Steyn

Was poor in performances and as a result was used mainly as a bench player for his club.

Ruan Pienaar

Started of well - but his service is getting slower and he was showing signs of tiredness towards the end of the season.

Jacgues Potgieter

Improved beyond recognition laying for the Waratahds.  Excellent performances throughout the season.

Bakkies Botha

Played well for his club - but had some disciplibat problems as well.  Clearly getting to the end of his playing career.

Gurthro Steenkamp

A bench player for his club - he was at ebst solid at times - but in the main questionable.

SUMMARY

Meyr should be able to put together a reasonably good team from teh above - provided he forgetS about the questionable players.

Mike you forgot about Cobus Reinach and Nizaam Carr? Undoubtedly the best scrum half in SA and the current best loose forward in SA.

 Jerome
There are a lot of players I "forgot" about.  Basically i was only looking at the player who actually featured in the June tests - and even there I left out some players like Mohoje.
I was looking more for the Springbopk regulars and thosr that already are Springboks.
I agree with you that Reinach and Carr was very good in uper 15 - Mohoje was in th main a bench player - and obviously there were other players like Labuschagne who had a series of injury problems this year - that marred their performances.
Other players that did well in Super 15 were Philip van der Walt and Warren Whiteley.
What do you think about my assessments?
