Springbok prop Trevor Nyakane will miss the team’s trip to Argentina after “repeatedly breaching team protocols” over the past few days.

Nayakane has been dropped from the squad and his place will be taken by Lourens Adriaanse, who was part of the Springbok team in June but has not won a cap yet.

Adriaanse and Piet van Zyl both join the Bok team to travel to Buenos Aires and then Mendoza after Fourie du Preez isn’t available as per the agreement with his club that he only play matches in SA. Marcell Coetzee and Jano Vermaak were also added to the squad, with Chiliboy Ralepelle not travelling with the team for the match after he injured his back in a gym session on Saturday morning.

Nyakane’s situation was cleared up by a tweet from the official Bok rugby account which read : “No great scandal folks. “Breach of protocol” in Trevor’s case means missing flights, video session and the trip to ORT (Oliver Tambo Airport) this morning.”

The burly prop will now have to return to Absa Currie Cup action and will be kicking himself for losing out on such a good opportunity.

The Springboks take on Argentina in Mendoza on Saturday in the second round of this competition.

“We were only able to finalise the touring squad after the test against Argentina at Soccer City on Saturday evening as we had to assess the injury situation,” said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.

“We are allowed to travel with only 26 players and it was difficult to leave out a few of our squad members. The players that stay behind will benefit from game time in the Absa Currie Cup and will certainly be in the selection frame when we select the squad for the squad to Brisbane and Auckland.”

Following the Springboks’ return from Argentina, the national selectors will discuss the touring squad of 28 that will travel to Australia and New Zealand for the third and fourth rounds of The Castle Lager Rugby Championship.

The Boks won their seventh consecutive game on Saturday night with the demolition of Argentina 73-11 at FNB Stadium, but will be wary of what happened last year when Los Pumas surprised them in Mendoza and held them to a 14-all draw.

Bok coach Heyneke Meyer expressed his satisfaction with the game plan, and the way the Boks executed it and said afterwards that he wanted the Boks to make a statement on the night of a celebration for former State President Nelson Mandela.

“I asked the guys for a special performance and they delivered. I said to them there will probably be a lot of people here who haven’t watched the Boks in a match yet and we need to do something special for them and for the occasion,” Meyer said.

“I'm ecstatic with the fact that we scored nine tries. I felt we could have scored two or three more, and I was very cross with the one we conceded at the end of the game.We will remain humble and we know that there is still a lot of work to do in the coming week. But we can definitely build on this.”

Wonder what Trevor did wrong and makes no sense that he has been replaced by a tighthead - typical stupidity from Meyer

 Wrong snapster. At tighthead he has Lourns and jannie. At loosehead he has beast and Steenkamp. He then has Coenie who plays both sides. couldnt be more balanced.

Just watched the WP/Cheetahs game. Kitshoff is playing very well and scrumming powerfully.

He was dropped because he missed Bok meetings and stuff.

 Mike you and snaster really need to wise up. Morne was very good  and no one is threatening him.

Steenkamp is a question and so is Basson. Juandre (Who although not physical did not have at all a bad game) is out when Du Toit get back and so is Steenkapm when Malherbe is back. Our props next year will come from Beast Coenie and jannie and Malherbe. Kitshoff Is comining on strongly. Lourens, Mellet, marcell are also looking good. No propblems re props.

One thing what is good is that Meyer is not packing the side with kids. Its a good blend. Jan coming on off the bench is as much as should happen for now. 

Glad they dropped him. If a player can't follow the rules when he is representing his country he should be dropped. Oz needs to do this with the 3  amigos & try & get these immature idiots to grow up.

ABs have had a few (Gilford for example, but he has owned up to his problem with alcohol). Weepu had problems in the past with too much partying & not respecting the jersey & he straightened up.

So fair enough, no matter how good you are respect the jersey and the team or your off the team.

Fully agree JW and doubtless young trevor has leaned a lesson. Mckenzie must likewise crack the whip. Misbehave and put yourself before the team and you are history.

Cannot see what value the fat and useless Steenkamp brings to the team. He folded like paper yesterday and was penalized twice as a result. An what was the reason for bringing Du Preez in for one match and playing him from the bench for 27 minutes - that remain the question?

That is like playing the fool with development of younger players and the question remains what does Meyer want to achieve with that.

Ou Maaik, seems like you just do not learn. I have told you on numerous occasions and it will probably not help telling you again, but I am going to do it nonetheless. If you want to prove a point then do so without exagerating or bullshitting when it comes to facts and stats. Steenkamp was pinged for hinging only once, not twice. I have mentioned this elsewhere but let me repeat it. Steenkamp did have an issue and he does need to work on it. He sometimes scrums with his flippin arse in the air and that is when he "folds". That was exactly what happened in his first scrum where teh scrum, was first reset and then he was penalised. Later in the game it happened again and then Pollock decided to (wrongfully) penalise his opponent. It was Steenkamp who, again, hinged. Having said that, the times that he had his hips lower than his shoulders and kept hos back straight he had the upper hand over his opponent. Go check.

Apparently with Steenkamp on board the airoplane the maximum weight regulation had allready been exceeded, and the Nyakane was the fall guy

 Mike I know you chose to ignore me earlier, Morne started the JJ try by running it from deep in our own half. What did he do? He managed to get our backline going, albeit with a fantastic platform still shows that your nay-saying is all a bit exaggerated.
