NZ and SA to face off at the tOKyo corral ?

TOKYO (AP) The United States drew with Fiji and beat Samoa to reach its first sevens world series quarterfinals of the season in Tokyo on Saturday.

 

After beating Samoa 24-17, the Americans came from 19-5 down to level with Fiji at 19. They could still afford a loss to France and advance to the Tokyo Sevens last eight, where they will face defending champion South Africa on Sunday.

 

 

South Africa, New Zealand and England topped their pools with three wins out of three games.

 

South Africa beat Kenya, Japan and Argentina, while New Zealand put away Wales and Portugal and needed a last-gasp try from Bryce Heem to break a tie with Canada, 22-17.

 

England also wasn't pushed until its last game, when it came from 21-7 down against Australia to win 24-21, Phil Burgess' winning try coming after Australia's Ed Jenkins was sin-binned.

 

In the other quarterfinals, New Zealand will play Australia, Fiji meets Kenya, and England faces Canada.
