Can you figure this out...maybe it is a clear cut indicator in the different styles and way the AB's differ from us...does it tell us something.I think it obviously does, serious this does differ apart from from common knowledge.
In 1995 we won the WC and only managed to beat 2 minnows by these margins (Romania 21-8 in Cape Town and Canada 20-0....that same competition NZ whipped Japan 145-17.
In 1999, SA beat Spain 47-3 (first time qualifier) and Uruguay 39-3 whilst that same competition NZ humiliated Italy (not really a true minnow...have beaten France twice since then) 101-3. The following WC in 2003 they beat them again by 70-7 and again in 2007 by 76-14.
In 2003 SA scored 72-6 against poor Uruguay and were challenged by a good win over Georgia, 46-19...which was not actually embarrassing for new comers and minnows...to get 19 points.
Comes 2007 where once again we lifted the title but it was touch and go with Tonga 30-25, whereas NZ continued to bully and embarrass poor Portugal, 108-13...I just hope oneday if NZ makes the WC in soccer they don't meet......and then unfortunate Romania 85-8...a team so poor financially that carried their kit in supermarket plastic bags in 1995.
In 2011 NZ went to town on Canada and demolished them 79-15 and now a day ago the Eagles, 74-6.
Any thoughts on this???
