NZ teams dominating Global 10s

...Some great rugby and talent on display with the Brisbane 10s last night and more to come from lunchtime today...A great pity no Saffa teams involved this year- of course no parallels will ever be drawn there with the current ban on Russians being excluded from the Winter Olympics due to the systematic doping scandal...

Big loss though the Russians absence ..er i mean the South Africans absence from the competition as remarkably the Blue Bulls even made the Global 10s finals last year somehow- arguably the highlight of their season...

..it's a good warm up to Superrugby comp and teams can gauge the form and fitness of their players as can fantasy managers..

Currently reigning Global 10s champions the Mighty Chiefs and Superrugby champs the Crustifarians looking the best of the bunch on Day 1 and the teams to beat...

.....yeh it's abit like the World Series of Baseball where only the Americans are invited to play...how is that a world series?

...or the Miss Universe competition when only earthlings are invited to pa rticipate...so not really setting any precedents as such.... those not invited might get hung up on the semantics but they are trying to include teams from further a field each year with the aspirations of it being a truly global competition eventually i think...

Yep Brycy don't get carried away mate. Just note who again is topping the Sevens log. I see though Senatla will stop playing sevens and there are a number of injuries. Can our second team thump the kiwi s becomes the question.

...Bean Brain yr teams suck sess in the 7s is purely accidental i'm sure...all i  been seeing from SA is alot of fumbling and some choking like the SA cricket team...

...t's all the Ugandans in yr 7s team that seem to be doing all the hard work anyway ...although Kwagga and Kok have been quite good and deserve to go on holiday somewhere for at least the next 6 months to be sure..

And as i said such a pity yr brokenarsed country could'nt afford to send a team to the 10s...they probably blew the budget on the one competitor they're sending to the Winter Olympics....

...Congratulations to Cloudy's Blues on a victorious Global 10s campaign...Some great attacking rugby on display over the last couple of days....Caleb Clarke, son of AB Eroni Clark having a good tournament and could be a player to watch out for this year in Super Rugby - only 19 and playing for the NZ 7s team as well...

There is only one game of rugby and that's the 15 man game.

7's and 10's may be played with the same shaped ball but rugby it most certainly is not.

IT is rugby. Just in a different format. 

Nah ... I don't agree ... it's like 20 20 cricket ... a crock of shit ... meant to be viewed by those who don't take it seriously.

Just a little fun to be enjoyed with a beer while you're having a game of darts with your mates and chatting up the waitress.

The 15 man game is a war zone where an assortment of skill is needed.  ... not just fitness and able to run in open space.

Most that play these types of "rugby" can't make it in the 15 man game.

CC ....we all I think prefer 15 man rugby, but there is a place for 7's and 10.s.

The latter has not really taken off...I know a fellow who used to play ....Hong Kong and Pieter Muller once told me after he stopped playing for the Sharks and Boks that he was getting involved and promoting 10's in Cape Town but this never met with enthusiasm in SA.

Personally I think 10's could be a great format.

Sure ... there's also a place for Tiddly Winks, Bingo and the yearly Bok Drol spitting competition ... but nobody ever takes these seriously. It's meant for light entertainment. When you have nothing better to do. 

Yeah, CC prefers a pitch overcrowded with fat men groping each other, with little space available to show actual skill. You know, skills like running, passing, tackling... Because those skills are not for "real men".

If only I had a flyswatter close at hand ...
