 A fair assessment Moz. 
Glen seemed to be a non-event, i.e. he did his job as did the TMO and we are not left reviewing endless clips & debating if a try was scored, etc. I'm glad the game was hard fought & that there were no cases of blatant foul play, yellow cards for tackling a player in the air, etc.
Job well done as far as I'm concerned.

 Well it's all in good fun.... we were well beaten on the day, mostly through self inflicted damage. But  the forcing mechanism was the Canes rush defence.

 Alas the good DR Moz has lost his way and turned from the light to darkness. The poem submitted could have been written by that arch villain rooitwit who is a closet wee ab fan! A great light has been dimmed, a wrong path taken!!
Nobody will score tries against the hapless blowhards while they camp offsides. The wee chiefies couldn't do it either and some teams before them. Be assured the other kiwis sides will be onto this and next season tries will again be scored against the hapless blowhards who will be penalised for offsides play.  Yes there were some self inflicted wounds and huge luck favoured the unworthy blowhards. I tip my hat the the Lions who outplayed the blowhards in most fascists of the game.
I do hope the Lions can keep their players and build greater depth. If they can do this they are in with a real chance to win the trophy. Other SA franchises lik Stormers, Bulls and Sharks who were soundly whipped by the Lions must ralise they have to wake up and smell the roses. Th Boks looked to be doomed by the quota coach and numerous quota selections. The only hope for the Boks is the defeat of the racist anc at the polls and that is still a way off despite their diminishing support.
We have some oak here emotionally unable to cope so they slate Jantjes. Jantjes was put under huge pressure by offside play and so were the other backs. Line speed my foot! I knew this was going to happen and said as much. In addition, the weather will be hard for him as he plays at altitude on dry fast fields. Heaven forbid we have any context or understanding brought to bear by the hatters.

P.S. The last tennis grand slam of the season will start later this month - The US Open.

 Hakwa; I see you have captured Beeno's one-eyed likeness very well. And the song is very appropriate also. 
We pray for Beeno's speedy recovery, how much more can his fragile mental state take? Fortunately he only has one lonely brain cell so he is blissfully unaware of almost everything.
Jackson had a good day with the whistle, there were no critical controversial play, no yellow cards, no foul play of note. We are not left endlessly debating clips of such things & getting all hot & bothered. Canes won fair and square, the Lions showed they deserved to be in the final & perhaps could have won if the game was played at Ellis Park. The rest is history, they are a young team that will be better next year. Plus, the are a ray of hope for SA rugby. Well done Lions, a brilliant year!

Defence dominated attack......just as the Poms dominated Oz. The Lions had  better territory and possession, but other than the knight of Rohan....they were unable to threaten.

South African media have lauded the individual impact of Beauden Barrett and the steel of the Hurricanes defence as they come to grips with the Lions falling short in last night's Super Rugby final.

News outlets in the Lions' home city of Johannesburg offered no excuses for their side's 20-3 loss despite the horrendous weather conditions and travel factor in having to fly to the New Zealand capital.

Writing in the Johannesburg Star, Jacques van der Westhuyzen said the Lions, playing in their first final, "dominated many areas of the final at a wet, cold and windy Westpac Stadium, but they could find no way through a resolute Hurricanes defence".

Popular website Sport24.co.za agreed that the "atrocious conditions dictated the outcome" but said Barrett had outperformed rival first five Elton Jantjies and that had been a key difference.

"It was a kicking duel Barrett won as he kept returning the Hurricanes to point-scoring positions despite the Lions dominating territory," said the site.

"When the Lions used their big men to ram a pathway forward in the first half they were stopped in their tracks time and again as Brad Shields and Victor Vito, in his 100th game, led a bruising defence.

"If the Lions went wide they were rattled by the Hurricanes line speed".

Writing in the South African Times, Liam de Calme also referred to the bruising Hurricanes defence and influence of Barrett.

"With their rush defence fully operational the Hurricanes applied near unbearable pressure on the Lions' ball carriers," he wrote.

"It was‚ however‚ flyhalf Beauden Barrett who delivered a master class in the wet as he applied pressure on the scoreboard and territorially on the visitors. He contributed 15 of his team's points in appalling conditions.
"That‚ backed up by solid defence proved the cornerstones to the Hurricanes' victory. That defence helped render the Lions scoreless in the second half.
"The hosts were typically unremitting on defence with Ardie Savea and the appropriately named Shields key blockers among the forwards."

 The article above sums up what Mozart, I & others have been saying about the defence of the Canes. The absence of a good kicking game was also key. There is no talk about a poor ref, being offside, etc. No bad sportsmanship in this article either. Beeno, please take note.
