"Off" Camera reviews by TV Match Officials in New Zealand

In the Sharks game, the referee asked the TV match official to check an offside from a Blues try.                                   

It was referred by the on-field referee but there was no review on the stadium TV. Instead, a New Zealander just muffled that it was onside.

What happened here? Was this poor camera work that just did not catch the play- or was it further cheating antics?

The whole point of the video referee is to show the various angles on screen- then make the call. This has to be based on evidence from the replay. 

There was one TV referral that was never showed on TV - highly irregular since as I can remember it involves a Blues try that brought them on par with the Sharks.   That is highly irregular and can be queried by observers on the grounds of crookedness.

What like the last win the boks had over the ABs ?Where the some dude off the field supposedly saw a penalty ?Like that ?

That happening you refer to was shown on TV repeatedly and the viewing public saw that one as well/   In the case referred above it was not seen.  

However, don/t remind me of the outright crookery of the NZ TV Monitor a few weeks ago in the game between the Chiefs and the Bulls - that was blatant - the case in 2014 was not..  

Kiwis i f that hat fits wear it. Hahahahahhahahaha When you can't even fool ou maaaake with your cheating it shows how very blatant it is.

I am always fair about issues and am not whining as you implied.   If anything like that happened iro NZ teams in SA there would indeed be endless whining on the part of our NZ friends on site,  Be fair - NZ supporters are not always right and outsiders are not always wrong,

Follow my example and everything would lead to more objectivity.   I criticize  SA teams/players  endlessly and praise NZ players regularly

Mikey we all know the Saffa TV chaps played it endlessly to get the wee Boklets fans yahooing and carrying on so as to sway the ref .

Wardaddy, Ol' Maaikie is normal ly quite fair on all sides (except on Moonligher Matfield, Alberts, Morne and Frans Steyn), unlike his buddy Mozart who once he does not like a player that's it for the rest of his rugby playing life...that player is doomed no matter what he does...but both these old toppies think their criticism on these players will be read by existing coaches and that their  heed will be taken....lol

One thing however you seldom hear from Maaikie is whining about reffing, unlike  Beano (anti NZ rants) and tmo decisions but in this case he has a point.

There probably should be  more control of the producers discretion. 

Indeed, Schalk headbuttin the AB players arm was showed over and over while jeering fans called for a "look" by the ref.

It's fair to say that if this happens then the producer could influence the game. And it does happen. In SA, in NZ and in Oz. 

One might say that showing something that did happen and intentionally not showing something else are two quite different scenarios. 

One appears to demand adjudication on an incident while the other attempts to hide a transgression.

They are in similar in a way but also quite different in another.

Obviously the latter is worse since a TV ref is involved. And this would suggest biased reffing or rather, provide evidence for it.

A mistake at best and blatant cheating at worst. 

One thing I am sure of is that all is not as it seems with world rugby.
