Steyn started off very well - but then he started deteriorating and his missed tackle on Slade - when the latter scored and cancelled out his good start. Thereafter he was very much the same = some poor and aimless kicking - and some real problems like a penalty that gained all of 15 meters - and one that did not find touch. His goal kicking was good enough - but I am not surprised at him being subbed after the penalty he failed to find touch.
I would not say that Steyn won the game for the Sharks _ I was mucg more impressed by Reinach and Jordaan in the backline and the tight 5 forwards who played like tigers.
What I could not understand the whole game was the illegal tactics used by the Crusaders and the way the referee let them get away with it. It started early in the game with Crotty hanging on to Jordaan's jersey during the move that resulted in the try scored by Sithole. Then followed the Deysel incident. Granted - Deysel's reaction was wrong - but what started off should have been immediately penalized by the referee.
Similar incidents happened throughout the game and and together with the dubious scrum decisions one got the impression that the referee made a series of decisions in an effort to swing the game. In the latter regard Crocket scrummed inward all the time and the Sharks got penalized twice in such scrums.
My pick of players from the Sharks are -
* Reinach despite two poor passes when under pressure had a gigantic game; and * Jordaan played a key role in three cases - following up a kick and getting a turnover in the process - resulting in a converted penalty for the Sharks - making an attempted line break which Crotty could only stop by a neck high tackle attempt and another converted penalty - and then the try scored by Cooper.
Swiel did very well after the replacement of Steyn and his goalkicking was excellent. His out of hand kicks were also very effecti ve and not as aimless as some other kicks were.

One illegal tactic kiwis teams use is to take out or grab a player without the ball near rucks. They get away with rthis tactic and refs need to wise up. Was probably why Deysel took law into his hands

Mike, open the other eye mate! I saw JP continually holding back Crusaders players off the ball throughout the game and the Sharks forwards were doing it also!Jersey pulling, holding players down and holding on to feet after rucks have finished happens in EVERY game from both sides......nothing new and has always been in the game in case you didn't know!

It is illegal and should be penalized by the referee. I did not see Pietersen doing it to the extent the Crusaders were doing it. It started with the Joprdaan incident - a blatant one for all to see. And it was followed by the Deysel incident. The Cr usaders player committed a professional foul and the ref should have yellow carded him and red-carded Deysel for reacting in a dangerous way.
It remains illegal and if that is the way New Zealand teams want to play - it is time they should be carded for it. There is and can be no justification for that kind of conduct.
