Ol' Maaikie...why do they call you Tokkie?

At first I thought this to be derogatory insult only called by Mozart but on the otherhand we have a farmer friend who had a young son at Grey Bloem who was affectionately known by his friends and family as "Tokkels"...I gather this means something in Afr ikaans.

Then I thought it had something to do with the Tok Tokkie beetle so often found in the Bushveld where there are elephants or Cape Buffalo or maybe it had something to do with those gremlins found in Africa called Tokoloshe

However I found this:

When I was working for the Department of Forestry at the Timber Preservation Plant in Bellville  in 1962 there was an elderly gentleman (Mr Wilkinson) who for some reason - I do not know why - gave me that nickname and it stuck with me ever since,.  

Annoyance?

Whatever do you mean?

I wax never an easy baby at work and worked massively long hours at work - often  7 days a week and  averaging 12 hours a day,  

However, at Bellville I met interesting people - one of which was a forester by the name of Van der Harst.   He was a soldier in the Dutch forces in what is today Indonesia and was caught as a POW by the Japanese and was in the camp they  based the film the Bridge on the River Kwai on.   His wife was much younger looking than him did and one day I were watching from the office window as she was watering the garden  dressed on hot pants. Mr Van der Harst asked me what I was looking at and I said "Your wife" and he charged at me and I scampered off.   His daughter later got involved in the doctor who assisted Chris Barnard with the first heart transplant .   She was a real beauty with lovely little tits and the dr divorced his wife and marrieds her. 

Incidentally I was instrumental in getting a Prof Dr Klaus von Gadow to come to SA as a Forestry professional from Germany in 1966.   He worked for the Department for about five years and then went to the Forestry Faculty at Stellenbosch University,  So last week I checked on the internet to try and find out what happened to him.   He had a massive professional record on that site and I was most impressed on his career,

I thought he would have forgotten about me and send him an e-mail.   He came back the same day and wrote in Afrikaans - he was delighted that I enquired about him and send me a family photo including of his children and grandchildren.   He is living in Kleinmond.   Must have a good memory - in Forestry we all wore safari suits and said I was dressed in a Light blue one the day he came from Germany,

So Mike ... did a comb in your sock come with the safari suit? I'm told that it was standard issue for all safari suit wearers.
