Gio Aplon, Habana, Fury, de Villiers, Ndungane, Grant, F du Preez

CJ, Smit, BJ, Schalk, Rossouw, Bakkies, Brussouw, Juan Smith.

These guys would whip any of Sapps young teams.....and  most likely whip our recent test teams.

Better, tougher loosies....with all the bases covered. War horses at lock and in the front row. Smit as captain. F du Preez and Grant to control play ....and at least parity among the backs. No contest.

Gio Aplon, Habana, , de Villiers- cant be counted as they are part of the current team. Putting them in the current the old team would mean taking out some of the first choice players.

Brussouw has been average- much better to have

CJ was woeful for the Stormers and more recently not even making the Lions.

We have had brilliant playrers in the past - but we have to look at the future.   I do believe that Saffex has a point by mentioning them as future contenders for selection as Springboks - but some of the youngsters he mentioned will not make the grade.   However, we will have to replace some players before the WC - and I believe that they are around.

The WC is still a three years away and I believe that some players will have ample time to ptove themselves and see whether they can make the step up from the Junior ranks and from Super 15.   I would definitely consider the following players as ultimate Springboks:-

15    Lambie and Taute

Wings :   Existing player - Pietersen.   Add Howard, Engelbrecht, Mvovo and Rhule

Centers :  Existing pplayer - Steyn.   Add Jordaan, Serfontein and Small-Smith

10            Goosen and Pollard

9              Hougaard and Van Zyl

8             Existing Player - Alberts.   Add Vermeulen

Flanks :  Existing Player - Coetzee  Add Du Toit, Elstadt and Minnie

Locks  :  Existing Player - Etzebeth, Add Kruger, Roux and Willemse

Props :   Oosthuizen. Kitshoff. Malherbe and Van Wyk

Hookers : No prediction as yet - but I believe the hooker will be Bismarck Du Plessis.

The days of the oldies are gone.   There obviously are Springboks young enough to play in the next WC - but I do not believe that Kirchner, Habana, De Villers, Morne Steyn, Spies, Burger, Jannie Du Plessis and the Beast will still be around at that time  .   That means nearly half of the present team will have to be replaced over the next two years at the utmost - some even sooner - but we have the players to replace them and I am sure the youngsters mentioned would make the grade.

The World Cup will take care of itself. I'm talking about now. And I'd back my team against any of Sapps lightie teams.  Mike I have seen most of these youngsters play, and the jury remains out on the whole lot of them, including those who played in the recent test series. Mvovo wont make it, nor will Taute and  Engelbrecht. The U 20s are even further from an informed assessment.

As for my including Aplon, Habana and de Villiers, I include them only because the Sappster rejects them for his team. And CJ may be injury prone but in that Lions win over the Sharks he gave Jannie a pasting. He is far from done...."old age hath yet it's honour and it's toil"

One could easily pick a side to beat these hasbeensous  by say 50 points Moz.

Smit!!!! BJ!!!! CJ!!!! matfield!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry but Schalk and Brussouw are part of the Bok set up NOW. Brussouw is only 26 and Schalk is the bok captain in waiting. Your pack would get munched. Wee matfield is currently at 102 kg!! Hahahahahahahahahaha

Nungane, Fourie Du Preez andd Grant hardly inspire confidence at the top level. Grant unfortunately has a pop gun kick. Goosen is many meters further on! Your hero Aplon also threatens much but delivers little - has age caught up with him? Juan is history at 32 and has hardly played for a number of years.

Moz you are living on old dreams here. Elstadt is a better bet now than Danie as is Alberts etc etc. BJ and CJ - hahahahahhaha - this all reminds me of the big name old baabaas side getting whipped at twicks. Remmber when that legend matfield captained the baabass to a reciord 60 point loss was it? Thats what one would be looking at here.

One has to let go of ones security blacket Moz!
