From what I can tell from this article it looks like he has been called into the squad to replace injured Manuel Carizza.
Phelan is supposed to announce the starting squad tomorrow - hope he gets in !!

Management Rugby Argentina Rugby Union confirmed a change in the roster of Argentine Selected face confrontation against South Africa. The player Thomas Lavanini replace Manuel Carizza.
The second line, Manuel Carizza, continues its recovery acromio clavicular sprain he suffered last Saturday and will not able to match you play the Pumas in Mendoza. Thus, the player of Indian Club, Thomas Lavanini, was summoned to join the squad.
The Pumas will train tomorrow morning in Buenos Aires, where the Head Coach of Los Pumas Santiago Phelan, confirm the formation to face South Africa. In the afternoon, the National squad will travel to Mendoza, where on Saturday August 24, at 16:10, will face South Africa at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas, for the second round of the 2013 Rugby Championship Staff.
funky google translation form the article i copied from oimateys link, but i love how it translates the chiefs 'the indian club', classic, :oP
hope ole cruz makes it, wishing him all the best, :o)
Guys, I cannot thank you enough for your words and support.
I could say a million things now, about how I feel, what I dream, etc. But it's not the time for words. It's time to honor the jersey I have been borrowed. :)
Acta, non verba.
That aside, I am DYING to go toe to toe with Eben. Been looking forward to that for years now.
Good luck to the Boks! May the best team win. :)
Awesome stuff bud - give it 110% as I am sure you will. Pretty incredible feeling representing your country - nothing like it !!!
Will be watching for that Eben matchup :)))
Wow. Pretty cool. How do you guys know olecruz is Thomas Lavanini?
I am going to be the starting 7 for my club in a couple of months. :P
Also by his rugby knowledge.
He sounds like an expert with much more knowledge than a fans like us
Thomas listen carefully to your Uncle Beeno. Avoid any contact with Etzebeth as this will prolong your career.
Next I think you Argies should beef up your pack. Can you play 7 as your team needs a big loosie.?
I shouldnt be be helping out with these suggestions but we are hoping you guys do very well after the Mendoza match. A win over the abs would be epic as they are set for a fall.
Good luck Tomas!
Don't worry too much about Abby Elizabeth. Just niggle him a few times and he'll explode into a red rage. He'll then try to prove to everyone what a tough guy he is and he'll be off to the sin bin.
Rooitwit I think Etzebeth shows remarkable constraint as they do try and needle him. However these days there are so many hard men in the Bok side opposition sides dont know where to start.
In any case rooitwit how many times has Etzebeth been sent off. You are getting this wrong as per usual. Please try and support the Boks after all they are not playing your wee abs -
Hi Tomas...have not seen you around for some time...too many yellow cards, che, or are you still playing somewhere.?
Please come back as a poster as Mozart, Pooo-ie, Beeno, Mike and Seb are "missing" you...LOL.and Bahahahahahahahaha
PS...You were our best poster...at least some intelligent comments came from Argentina.
Correction...a fter Cloudy you were our best poster!
Moolaa, whoever that larp was, he played it very good and he knew his rugby and did his homework. From all the posters on this site over the years I think Alucard is the only one who could have pulled it off, but I don't really think it was him. It most likely is one of the posters on this site, but who?

We all fell for the Ole Cruz X-files
Funny... I remember reading posts by Tomas in the early days and always thought Tomas was legitimate... always watched his games with more of a degree of interest since...
So it wasn't the guy?
But didn't Ed confirm it was ?
Plum I'm sure you're right...I do remember the Ed saying it was him....that's the part that puzzles, unless ofcourse Ed was also having us on...but I don't think that's his style.
Hi all
Just to clarify, we did initially think Ole Cruz was indeed legit.
Based in IP address and registration information, and we reached out via email, we thought we had the right guy.
Hindsight.....
Based on the palooka's on pitch behavior, we now highly doubt (but cannot confirm) it was him.
He can barely string a sentence together in English, let alone write like an Oxford graduate.
Yours in rugga

Feb 07, 2014, 13:36Thanks for that update, Ed.
I really hope Tomas returns now that he's been vindicated . . . even if it's only to help certain posters wipe the egg off their faces after describing his contributions on here as the "scam of the decade"!
Shplott!
Ou Maaik, the speed with which Moffie quickly jumped on the bandwagon after that Moolaa twat put up his incredibly flimsy "evidence" (phoning a mate who knew a mate who allegedly knew Tomas) puts him squarely in the skunk category as well.
"Say RooiAAS do you still believe in the Tooth Fairy and Father Christmas.....hahahahahaha."
You still laughing, Moffie?
Pompous arsehole!
Will the real Ole Cruz please stand up?

Feb 07, 2014, 14:29 It would make sense to keep your identity more private. Posting on messageboards, having certain opinions and views can sully your reputation or land you in hot water in some cases. His level of input was such that I believe he was legit. It would take an extraordinary case to sway me on the matter, and that is well beyond the capacity of almost everyone present.
