The fact is that Aussie Rugby is a minority sport - they have Australian football, League Rugby, soccer and even cricket that has a larger support base than rugby.
Since 2015 the country has - like SA - been drained by overseas clubs. In SA it is not having the same effect as it is having on Aussie Rugby with its smallish player and support base.
The problems were highlighted during the 2016 Rugby Championship - but even miore so in the present Super Rugby series. In 6 rounds they managed to win just 6 games - that included only one win against a foreign side - ie the Reds win over the Sharks - which was really more an accident as it was a real win inasmuch as the Sharks in that game were their only worst enemy.
The top position of the Aussie log is the Brumbies with 11 points and the only Aussie team with a positive point difference of 10 points. The other teams sound more like cricket scores when it comes to negative point difference.
One cannot but help to worry about the ituation - it is not a good sign insofar as Aussie Rugby is concerned.
