.....Dingo Deans. No need to speculate about whether a NZ coach can change a national programme, we have the perfect example in very highly rated Deans. This was Owen Finegan's take: .................. .Flanker Owen Finegan echoed that view this week, even if he suspected Deans still had a chance of staying on, saying: "It could well be that Deans retains his position if the Wallabies win the series, but I do not believe that in his tenure there has been any improvement in style or results.' ................ Connoly said: "Former Wallabies' coach John Connolly going further and saying the change should be made anyway because of the relatively poor record since 2008, a win rate of 58%, and a conservative style of play that he described as un-Australian." .................... Of course the NZHerald which is now advising the Boks to hire a NZ coach was big on Dingo. We don't need another Dingo, nothing that happens on a rugby field is rocket science. We need technically competent coaches and a strong leader which Coetzee failled to be. But A South African as head coach befitting the Boks history as a great rugby country and respecting the complexity of our rugby scene. ............ The only area we need help is in backline play and if we wanted to reach out for NZ knowhow a backline coach would make sense.

I've always believed it a bad fit for a Kiwi to coach the Wallabies. Under Deans the Wallabies lost their unique shape of playing running rugby. Deans wanted them to play like the All Blacks and Crusaders. Under Rod McQueen and Eddie Jones the Wallabies played a unique brand of running rugby without being bogged down with the physical side of the game. Under Cheika they've lost their shape.
But I think a good Kiwi coach like John Mitchell will gel with the Boks style of play, of that I have no doubt. It's amazing what he's done with the USA 15 side...they're a pleasure to watch.

Saffex is right...Ackerman under an international coach sounds right to me...what's happening to Vern Cotter...I heard he is leaving Scotland...not sure if is true...he would be ideal for SA...he raised Scotland by not 1 level but 2...and yes he is also a NZ'er.

Sorry Denny but the consensus here in Oz is that Eddie 'look at me !' Jones stuffed the "Aussie style " whatever that is.Under Deans they were doing better than they are now even with the 3 amigos sabotage.

Deans record for Australia against the Boks is better than any Wallaby coach.
The current wallaby coach record vs England in2016 is played 4 won 0. (Against a former Australian coach).

I would rather have a Kiwi coach like Mitchell or Plumtree than the available SA Duds like Coetzee, Meyer and even Jake White - all three failed in respect of comprehensive and thinking rugby.
Even Deans would be an improvement on the Three Duds mentioned above.
